On Saturday, August 11, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will welcome The Jacksons: Unity Tour 2012 to the Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island, marking the first time that the legendary musical family has played in Brooklyn and the first-ever Saturday night show in the 34-year history of the concerts.

On Thursday, June 21, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Deputy Borough President Sandra Chapman and the Caribbean-American Heritage Month Committee hosted the 7th annual Caribbean-American Heritage Month festivities at Brooklyn Borough Hall. Events of the day included music and dance performances, a marketplace, film screenings, an economic development power brunch and a tasting of Caribbean food. On Thursday, May 24, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to kick off the summer season in Coney Island with the announcement of two brand new thrill rides and the beginning of seven-day-a-week amusement operations.
