To kick off a season framed upon remembrance, resistance, and restitution, Corrib Theatre presents the Northwest Premiere of Patricia Burke Brogan's Eclipsed, directed by Corrib Artistic Director Gemma Whelan. Plumbing this appalling, Ireland-specific institution that's a shockingly relevant parallel to current U.S. incarceration and immigration practices, as well as reproductive rights policy, the all-female cast includes Victoria Alvarez-Chacon, Lorraine Bahr, Wynee Hu, Sasha Neufeld, Dainichia Noreault, Lucy Paschall, and Jamie Rea. Eclipsed runs for four weeks, September 20 through October 13, at New Expressive Works, 810 SE Belmont St., in Portland, Oregon.

The evening included the presentation of 2016 Pioneer of the Arts Award For Outstanding Achievement In Television and Theatre to the Emmy-winning stage, film and TV actor Joe Morton, Tony Nominee and eight time AUDELCO Award winner, Andre De Shields, the acclaimed Broadway and television actress Barbara Montgomery, and multiple Grammy Award winner, Broadway musical director and arranger Chapman Roberts.

Just this morning, Something Rotten and Spotlight star Brian d'Arcy James along with this season's break-out and genuflecting sensation Jennifer Simard from Broadway's Disaster announced the The Outer Critics Circle nominees for the 2015-16 season from New York's legendary Algonquin Hotel (59 W 44th Street.) Outer Critics Circle nominations are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season. Of note, because they were eligible last year for their Off-Broadway incarnations, HAMILTON, BLACKBIRD and DISASTER! were only eligible for new elements.

ECLIPSED, directed by Liesl Tommy, will open on March 6, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street). ECLIPSED marks a historic moment on Broadway: the first time the cast, director, and playwright are composed entirely of female artists, fitting for a production that so stunningly chronicles the experiences of a group of very resilient women. To celebrate, the show hosted some of the industry's other trailblazing and history-making women for the first preview. Producers Stephen C. Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey recently that the critically acclaimed Broadway bound Eclipsed will today launch a campaign to bring 10,000 girls to see the show. Through the '10,000 Girls Campaign,' girls from the Tri-State area between ages 16 to 24, who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience a Broadway show, will be given tickets to see Eclipsed.
