Quick Silver Theater Company (QSTC) presented a staged reading of Pearl Cleage's latest play Angry, Raucous and Shamelessly Gorgeous, featuring Crystal Fox (A Fall from Grace, 'Big Little Lies,' Burden opposite Forrest Whittaker, 'The Haves and Have Nots') as Anna Campbell, Tony nominee and QSTC company member Pascale Armand (Eclipsed) as Precious Pete Watson, Tony nominee Brenda Braxton (Smokey Joe's Café) as Kate Hughes and Two-time Audelco Award winner Marjorie L. Johnson (Coleman Domingo's-Dot) as Betty Samson at the National Black Theatre, 2031 125th Street & National Black Theatre Way (5th Avenue) 10035 on February 20.

New Georges will present the World Premiere of (NOT) WATER, co-conceived by Sheila Callaghan and Daniella Topol, written by Sheila Callaghan and directed by Daniella Topol, as part of Works On Water, a month-long, multi-disciplinary art event that presents multiple artistic perspectives on water in a global context, at the 3LD Art & Technology Center (80 Greenwich Street), running June 6-30, 2017. Just this morning, Something Rotten and Spotlight star Brian d'Arcy James along with this season's break-out and genuflecting sensation Jennifer Simard from Broadway's Disaster announced the The Outer Critics Circle nominees for the 2015-16 season from New York's legendary Algonquin Hotel (59 W 44th Street.) Outer Critics Circle nominations are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season. Of note, because they were eligible last year for their Off-Broadway incarnations, HAMILTON, BLACKBIRD and DISASTER! were only eligible for new elements.

The final entry in Theatricum Botanicum's 2015 "Americana" repertory season, Green Grow the Lilacs by Native American playwrightLynn Riggs is the rarely produced 1931 play that vied for the Pulitzer Prize and inspired the first mega-musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!. A rough-and-tumble love story with singing cowboys and classic folk music of the pioneering era, Green Grow the Lilacs will be directed byEllen Geer for a July 11 opening. Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 2014/15 Subscription Season with the Chicago premiere production of Marie Antoinette, a modern, witty portrayal of the young queen of France by David Adjmi and directed by Robert O'Hara. The cast features ensemble members Alana Arenas as Marie Antoinette, Tim Hopper as her husband Louis XVI and Alan Wilder as Sheep. Ericka Ratcliff takes on the role of Yolande de Polignac and Mrs. Sauce replacing previously announced ensemble member Ora Jones who had an artistic scheduling conflict.
