On Friday, March 24th, Mayor Eric Adams gave a Mayoral Proclamation to 96-year-old John Kander in celebration of the first Broadway performance of his new musical New York, New York. Following the proclamation, Lin-Manuel Miranda unveiled the sign renaming 44th Steet 'Kander & Ebb Way' and the Manhattan School of Music performed the iconic Kander & Ebb song 'New York, New York.' Jimmy Awards® alumni from the previous 10 years reunited for the first ever Jimmy Awards Reunion event yesterday, January 14. Former Jimmy Awards nominees, representing every year of the program, reunited for the celebration which included special duet performances from alumni currently on Broadway and in Touring Broadway shows. Joining the festivities was special guest Patti Murin, currently starring in Broadway's Frozen.

Director Michael Greif, who has directed seminal Broadway musicals including Rent, Next to Normal, Grey Gardens and many more, just received a Sardi's portrait to celebrate his career and work on Broadway directing this season's new musicals Dear Evan Hansen and War Paint. The casts from both of his shows came out to celebrate the occasion and BroadwayWorld was there!

Just this morning, Something Rotten and Spotlight star Brian d'Arcy James along with this season's break-out and genuflecting sensation Jennifer Simard from Broadway's Disaster announced the The Outer Critics Circle nominees for the 2015-16 season from New York's legendary Algonquin Hotel (59 W 44th Street.) Outer Critics Circle nominations are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season. Of note, because they were eligible last year for their Off-Broadway incarnations, HAMILTON, BLACKBIRD and DISASTER! were only eligible for new elements.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater will soon present Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect, The Book of Mormon) in the original world-premiere musical debuting this summer. The production, by Tony Award-nominated composing duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight; A Christmas Story, The Musical) and Outer Critics Circle Award-winning playwright Steven Levenson(Masters of Sex), is directed by Tony Award nominee Michael Greif(If/Then, Next to Normal, Rent) and will run July 10-August 23, 2015 in the Kreeger Theater.
