As part of the 10th birthday celebrations for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Matilda The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, the show has released new production photography of the London cast.
It was a reunion for two of the lead actors from Broadway's On the Town when Tony-nominee Tony Yazbeck visited New Hope, PA to see Clyde Alves at Bucks County Playhouse. Alves plays the role of Tago in the world premiere of The New World , the musical comedy that is getting raves from critics. John Timpane of the Philadelphia Inquirer said With sneaky brilliance, beginning to end, The New World is fresh, funny, and fluid. Jean Brenner of Bucks County Herald said, Mark my words, The New World is headed to Broadway: it's special, it's funny, it's delightfully entertaining.'
Celebrating 20 years since its first performance off-Broadway, an all-new London production of triple-Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown's first musical, Songs for a New World is at the St. James Theatre for a strictly limited run of three weeks, directed by Adam Lenson. This special 20th Anniversary production of Songs for a New World features an award-winning cast, including Cynthia Erivo, Jenna Russell, Damian Humbley and Dean-John Wilson, alongside a five piece band. Tony Award winner Priscilla Lopez, who appeared in the legendary original cast of A Chorus Line and was also a replacement for the role of 'Fastrada' in the original production of Pippin in 1973, just joined the all-new Tony Award winning production of Pippin in the role of 'Berthe' last night. FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY continues its Fall 2012 season with the return engagement of film, television, and theatre star PETER GALLAGHER. For his one-man show, "How'd All You People Get In My Room?," Gallagher shares real-life stories from his early days starting out as a young actor in New York, to working with legends like Jack Lemmon, Tom Stoppard, Mike Nichols, Robert Altman, Peter O'Toole and more. Joined by his four-piece band, Gallagher brings his experiences to life with songs ranging from Broadway, to music from the hit television show "The OC," to classics from Sammy Cahn, Jules Styne, Burt Bacharach and Van Morrison. When Gallagher debuted at the club in 2007, The New York Times raved that "he inhabits a song so comfortably that it flows directly out, a fusion of his own personality and the character he is playing." His new show will run through November 17 at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 204th season with an all-new production of Broadway's five-time Tony Award-winning family musical, Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN. Directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, this production will feature Philadelphia's very own Jeffrey Coon and Broadway's Jennifer Hope Wills. The cast also includes a live horse that will pull the Wells Fargo Wagon in the first act. THE MUSIC MAN opens on November 14th and runs through January 6th on the WST Mainstage. Nominations for The 57th Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Feinstein's at Loews Regency by Drama Desk Award winners Brian d'Arcy James and Donna Murphy, with Death Takes a Holiday, Follies and Nice Work If You Can Get It leading the pack. Yesterday, May 8, all of the nominees were celebrated at a special reception and BroadwayWorld was there to capture it all.
American actor Zach Braff (Scrubs and Garden State) just made his UK stage acting debut in a new comedy, All New People. The witty play, written by Braff, will be directed by award-winning Peter DuBois. All New People opened at the Duke of York's Theatre on 22 February 2012. Check out photos from opening night below!
