The Theatre Group at SBCC concludes the 17/18 season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, CRIMES OF THE HEART by Beth Henley.

The two-year-old Refuge Theatre Project, whose High Fidelity: The Musical is with eight nominations one of the top nominees in the upcoming non-Equity Jeff Awards, will continue its 2017 season with Things to Ruin: The Songs of Joe Iconis, playing May 12 - June 18, 2017.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of acclaimed director, producer, writer, and performer Mike Nichols, who passed away on Wednesday evening at age 83. San Diego Musical Theatre "The Local Way to See Broadway" presents their first production of 2014, CATS, running two more weekends at the North Park Theatre throughApril 6, 2014. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on the Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer. A true musical theatre phenomenon, CATS opened at London's New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. CATS's London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years. Just last night, the Signature Theatre Annual Gala celebration honored 2012-13 Residency One Playwright David Henry Hwang. Guests came together to pay tribute to the rich and varied body of work of David Henry Hwang, with special participation from B.D. Roundabout Theatre Company presents a new Broadway production of Hedda Gabler, starring Mary-Louise Parker, Michael Cerveris, Paul Sparks and Peter Stormare. Hedda Gabler, by Henrik Ibsen with a new adaptation by Christopher Shinn, is directed by Ian Rickson at the American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd Street). The cast also includes Lois Markle, Ana Reeder and Helen Carey. Hedda Gabler officially opened on Sunday, January 25th, 2009. This is a limited engagement through March 29th, 2009.

Director Billy Porter and Grammy nominee Ledisi mark their debuts with Reprise Theatre Company in the 1990 musical 'Once on This Island,' opening the 2008-2009 season, September 2 to 14 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. The press opening is September 3. Bradley Rapier, founder of the Groovaloos, choreographs and Darryl Archibald is the music director. Reprise Theater Company is led by Artistic Director Jason Alexander and Producing Director Susan Dietz.

Broadway lovers and teddy bear collectors came together on Sunday, February 11, at the 'Broadway Bears X' auction, which raised a grand total of $130,000 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
