Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) 2018-2019 Subscription Series presented by Carnegie Hall, will open on October 25, 2018, with Bernard Labadie on the podium for his official debut as Principal Conductor of the Orchestra. Works of Haydn are the thematic thread to this 32nd Carnegie Hall subscription season and the three programs will also feature works by younger contemporaries and 20th-century composers he influenced. The program, for the first of three concerts, pairs two great masterworks of the choral repertoire, Haydn's Mass in D Minor, Hob. XXII: 11, 'Nelson Mass,' and Mozart's Requiem, K. 626.La Chapelle de Quebec, the choir founded and directed by Maestro Labadie, makes its first appearance with OSL, joined by guest soloists German tenor Lothar Odinius, French-Canadian bass-baritone Philippe Sly, and acclaimed American mezzo-soprano Susan Graham.  

Built in 1917, the Frank B. Cooper School on Delridge Way has a long and storied history of providing education to youth throughout the years, and more recently is known as the home of local nonprofits and artists alike. The historic building remains a vibrant and thriving place for youth to create, engage and participate in community activities, education, arts and culture. This year, Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, as it's now known, celebrates its centennial on Sunday, December 3rd.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in collaboration with The Sol Project Latinx theater company will present the New York premiere of Martin Zimmerman's meditation on mourning, redemption and revenge, 'Seven Spots On The Sun,' directed by Ethiopian-Canadian 2016 Dora Award winner Weyni Mengesha. The six week engagement runs from April 26th to June 10th.

The Pasadena Playhouse (Danny Feldman, Producing Artistic Director and Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director Emeritus) announced today that they will present THE ORIGINALIST and HOLD THESE TRUTHS as part of the theater's 2016-2017 Season. THE ORIGINALIST, by John Strand (Charles MacArthur Award-winning Lovers and Executioners), directed by Molly Smith (Camp David and Artistic Director of Arena Stage), and starring four-time Helen Hayes Award-winner Edward Gero (Goodman Theatre's Red), tells the story about a liberal law student's nerve-wracking clerkship with Justice Antonin Scalia.

Directed by Aimee Todoroff and Tonya Pinkins and now in performances at the Gloria Maddox Theatre, Visionary Voices begins with Susan Glaspell's Trifles, followed by Marita Bonner's Exit: An Illusion and ending with Glaspell's The People - three wonderful plays that are more engaging and poignant in their single acts than many full length shows ever have the opportunity of being. All three plays take place at or near the start of the twentieth century, craftily combining themes as relevant today as they were then - collaborating with suspenseful plots, troubled characters and questionable motives that, when put together, show just how clever Todoroff and Pinkins are. In both the structure of this show as a whole and the effect it has on the audience, the truth here is that Visionary Voices is more than a statement - it is definitely a production worth your time.

What Will the Neighbors Say? is excited to announce its upcoming production of Four Sisters, a new play by Co-Artistic Director James Clements. The play examines the lives and deaths of the four daughters of the last Tsar of Russia in the aftermath of the 1917 Revolution. Four Sisters will begin with a preview performance on Tuesday March 21st before opening on Wednesday March 22nd at the Beckman Theatre at the American Theatre for Actors, 314 W 54th St.

National Donut Day is celebrated the first Friday of every June, a tradition dating to 1917, when female Salvation Army volunteers known as 'Lassies' made donuts for soldiers on the front lines of World War I. Salvation Army Lassies will visit Denver's VA Hospital on National Donut Day to provide donuts and coffee to America's heroes.
