Artists from the cast and orchestra of 'Chicago' and 'Aladdin' have combined talents to create their own unique take on the 'Chicago' classic, 'Funny Honey,' in a celebration of Pride! The project, led by Mollie Downes (Roxie Hart, 'Chicago,' Broadway National Tour) and Augie Haas ('Aladdin' Broadway Orchestra) features an exciting new journey for Roxie and Amos, who find themselves in a queer telling of the well known story, featuring dancer Eileen Kielty (credit) as Fred Casely.

If you're wondering whether or not 2013 was a fantastic year for the cabaret art form in New York, all you have to do is scan the amazing list of nominees for this year's BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards and you'll know it was one of the best ever. Voting will continue until Sunday night January 5 and the winners will be announced later that week. We hope that all the winners will be able to perform in the Award show on Sunday night February 23 at Joe's Pub.

A few weeks before BroadwayWorld.com Cabaret Reviewer and Columnist Stephen Hanks was about to stage the opening night of his debut solo cabaret show on May 31, a number of cabaret performers asked him if he was going to write about the experience in some way, with some even encouraging him to keep a diary. 'It might be really interesting to read how your perspective about cabaret performers and performing might have changed and how it might impact your reviews now that you're doing it yourself,' commented one singer. 'It was a fascinating notion and one that I had already thought about,' Hanks admits, 'but between a full time job, attending shows, writing reviews, taking vocal lessons, rehearsing, etc., finding the time and the energy to keep even a weekly diary was not in the cards.' Hanks certainly didn't think he'd forget even the little things that have gone into making his journey what he calls 'an amazing, fantasy-fulfilling, almost surreal experience.' On the eve of his last performance of his three-show run (over three weeks) at the Metropolitan Room of Beyond American Pie: The Don McLean Songbook, BroadwayWorld.com sat down with our lead cabaret reviewer to get his insights and perspective on what's it been like to be on the performer end of things.

A long, long time ago, Stephen Hanks heard Don McLean's second studio album "American Pie" (which was released in late 1971 and hit number one on the Billboard album chart), and became a life-long fan. Now a cabaret show reviewer/columnist for BroadwayWorld.com and Cabaret Scenes Magazine, Stephen has decided to experience how the other half lives and will take the performing leap with his debut solo cabaret show, Beyond American Pie: The Don McLean Songbook. The 2008 MAC Award Winners have been announced

Eileen Fulton, Klea Blackhurst, John Treacy Egan, Heather Parcells & Nancy Witter announced the nominees for the 22nd Annual MAC Awards of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs, on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 1:30pm at Barnes & Noble, Lincoln Triangle (at 66th Street).

Judy Barnett, the winner of a 2007 Major Jazz Vocalist of the Year MAC Award, will play the 2007 JVC Jazz Festival at Smoke.

The 2006 MAC AWARDS will be presented on MONDAY, APRIL 17 AT 7:30 PM at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center at BMCC, 199 Chambers Street. Hosted by Lee Roy Reams, the 20th annual MAC Awards will include appearances by Phoebe Snow, Ben Taylor, Karen Mason, Carol Hall and Rocky Carroll among others.
