While I won’t term this as a must-see; it is most certainly a fine piece, well worth seeing. If not for the creative aspects touched upon above, it serves a fantastic look at nearly forgotten period in modern history and a strong reminder both that things are not always as they may at first appear; as well the notion that we are all far more alike than different. Barrington Stage Company has announced casting for the season’s outdoor productions Who Could Ask for Anything More? The Songs of George Gershwin and the world premiere play, Boca, and a line-up of Broadway stars who will perform in concert under a tent at BSC’s Production Center (34 Laurel Street).

Barrington Stage Company will produce a 2021 season that will feature four productions staged indoors at the theatre’s Boyd-Quinson Stage (30 Union Street) and three productions which will be staged outdoors under a tent at BSC’s Production Center (34 Laurel Street).

Barrington Stage Company, the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, is honored to announce a major gift of $1 million dollars from Board member Sydelle Blatt and her husband Lee.

The invitation proclaimed An Evening of Pure Joy and the Barrington Stage Company's NYC Benefit held at The Friars Club last night surpassed all expectations. A star studded roster from the BSC actors bench filled the Friars Club with song as Tony Award Winning Composer/Lyricist William Finn presented Joe Iconis with the William Finn Award for Innovation and Excellence in Musical Theatre. Julianne Boyd, artistic director and founder of Barrington Stage Company, Mary Ann Quinson, Board Chair, and Marita O'Dea Glodt, opened the evenings festivities. The SRO guests in the legendary Friars Club were entertained by BSC performers, Jennette Bayardelle, Allison Blackwell, Ellen Harvey, Lauren Marcus, Kyle Dean Massey, Jeff McCarthy, Anastasia Mccluskey, Anne L. Nathan, Will Roland, Scarlett Strallen, Will Swenson,Jason Sweetooth Williams,Eric William Morris, and Stephanie Umoh. Musical direction was by Darren Cohen.

'THIS' a play by Melissa James Gibson (House of Cards) opened on the St. Germain Stage of Barrington Stage Company last night and had most of the first night audience telling there friends 'don't miss THIS', after leaving the theatre.  Broadwayworld was there for the opening night celebration.  When great ideas, words, and acting are heard in a theatre THIS is what happens. 'THIS' runs thru August 27th.  Already Berkshire theatre lovers are also saying 'don't miss this' about Barrington Stage Companies production of COMPANY starring Aaron Tviet on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage August 10-Sept 2...Opening night is August 13.

The award-winning songwriter Joe Iconis returned to Barrington Stage Company with his popular cabaret, Joe Iconis & Family: Outcast Superstars. The first of three performances took place at Mr. Finn's Cabaret, at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center in Pittsfield last night and Broadwayworld was on the scene to catch shots of the evening. David Lutken and Friends gave the Mr. Finn's Cabaret audience some great Folk/Country music last night and BroadwayWorld was there.

Last night Barrington Stage Company presented the World Premiere of Engagements by Lucy Teitler and BroadwayWorld was there. Directed by Louisa Proske (BSC debut), Engagements stars (in their BSC debuts) Amanda Quaid (Irish Rep's The Weir) as Lauren, Kate Loprest (First Date) as Allison, Adam Gerber (George Street Playhouse The Whipping Man) as Ryan, Phoebe Strole (Spring Awakening) as Catherine, and Robert David Grant (Yale Rep Hamlet) as Mark.

Opening Night of the American screwball comedy His Girl Friday, John Guare's adaptation of Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's original play The Front Page and the screen version of His Girl Friday took place at Barrington Stage Co. and Broadwayworld's Stephen Sorokoff was there. Julianned Boyd artistic director of BSC was the director.

Last night the Barrington Stage Company Musical Theatre Lab presented the East Coast Premiere of Nick Blaemire's A Little More Alive on the St. Germain Stage of the Sydelle & Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center and Broadwayworld was there.

The Atlantic Classical Orchestra (ACO) will present its 3rd Annual Benefit Concert, A 25th Anniversary Celebration, tonight, December 10, 4:30 p.m. at Orchid Island Beach Club in Vero Beach.

Hosted by The Vero Friends of the ACO, A 25th Anniversary Celebration will kick-off the Orchestra's 25th Concert Season in Vero Beach. Founded in 1990 by conductor laureate Andrew McMullan, the ACO baton was passed in 2004 to Grammy-nominated Maestro Stewart Robertson, who now leads the Orchestra with performances in three venues: the Waxlax Center in Vero Beach, the Lyric Theatre in Stuart, and the Eissey Campus Theatre in Palm Beach Gardens.

Barrington Stage Company presented the phenomenally entertaining Fyvush Finkel in a show that is a musical celebration of the 91 year old's long career last night. It is fitting that after a sold out run of his 54 Below nightclub debut Mr. Finkel chose William Finn's Cabaret as his next cabaret appearance. Berkshire audiences were treated to this masterful entertainer who 80 years ago was a star in the pre broadway Yiddish Theater.
