Originally premiering at last year’s Hollywood Fringe, The School of Night reprises their award-winning production of Battlesong of Boudica April 9, 2023 at The Hudson Backstage. I got to throw out some questions to Jen, who’s playing the titular role of Boudica. And she punched back her answers directly on target.

Babes With Blades Theatre Company will serve up the blood and pie with their upcoming production of William Shakespeare's most violent play, Titus Andronicus, performed by an all-female cast, at City Lit Theatre, 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Chicago. Previews will be tonight, February 21, Friday, February 27, and Today, February 28 at 8PM and Sundays, February 22 and Sunday, March 1 at 3PM. 'Moby Dick' -- Herman Melville's saga about Captain Ahab's pursuit of a great white whale -- will make its first fully-staged debut today, April 25 through May 4, and will be the subject of a free symposium at Northwestern University on April 12. The Melville classic is directed and adapted by David Catlin.

Signal Ensemble Theatre presents the second production of their 11th Season with the Chicago premiere of Plainsong, at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice Ave. Founded in 2003, award-winning Signal Ensemble Theatre uses a deeply collaborative method to produce work never-before-seen in Chicago. Plainsong is written by Eric Schmiedl and is directed by Signal Ensemble Theatre Member Bries Vannon. The play is adapted from Kent Haruf's National Book Award finalist novel by the same name. Preview performances are on Thursday, Jan. 30 and Friday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m., followed by opening/press night on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. Performances will run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. and ticket prices are $20 for single tickets, $15 for industry/students/seniors/groups and $10 for previews. Artistic Associate director Ed Rutherford (The Last Unicorn) returns to Promethean Theatre Ensemble to stage Caucasian Chalk Circle, Bertolt Brecht's masterpiece of hope, humanity and justice. Featuring Rutherford's unique story theater approach, the production will include original music from composer Matt Kahler, (The Hypocrites' Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado) and will bridge the gap between an old tale and the modern world with a highly theatrical mix of music, puppetry, physicality and raw emotion.
