Chelsey Symphony Features Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Mendelssohn and More!

The Chelsea Symphony continues its eleventh season, Flight Paths, on Friday, April 21, at 8:30 PM and Saturday, April 22, at 7:30 PM at St. Paul's German Lutheran Church, 315 West 22nd Street. Both concerts feature a pair of 20th century classics that draw inspiration from the past: Stravinsky's 'Dumbarton Oaks' is a sparkling showpiece for chamber orchestra that alludes to Bach's Brandenburg Concertos and is the final work the composer wrote in Europe before immigrating to the United States. Prokofiev's 'Classical' Symphony is a witty homage to the symphonic idiom of Haydn and Mozart. TCS Composer in Residence Aaron Dai hears the world premiere of his Early Morning Walk, based on a poem by US Poet Laureate Ted Hooser.
