It’s back! The most wonderful time of the year (besides baseball season), which brings with it a slew of the most wonderful theatre offerings. The B Street Theatre is premiering one of them, Snow Fever: A Karaoke Christmas by Robert Caisley, as part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. In the true spirit of Christmas, Caisley adheres to the unspoken rule that a holiday is not a holiday without a steaming hot mess.

You may have heard that back in the 20th century a guy by the name of Edward Murphy famously said, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.” Pessimistic? Maybe. Accurate? Definitely, as proven in B Street Theatre’s side-splitting rendition of The Play That Goes Wrong. This award-winning comedy written by members of the aptly named Mischief Theatre Company is a play within a play about things that go, well, wrong.

What did our critic think of WINNIE-THE-POOH at B Street Theatre?

We’ve all heard of the Wright Brothers. Orville and Wilbur are introduced to us in elementary school as the first to invent the motor-operated airplane; however, there is so much more that we don’t know about these two fascinating individuals who forever changed the way that we travel. Jerry Montoya gives us a history lesson disguised in a delightfully entertaining package with his newest play, The Flying Machine: The Story of the Wright Brothers.

‘Tis the season to be jolly!  Unless you’re Santa, whose ancient body has compiled a laundry list of ailments. Playwright Buck Busfield has imagined a contemporary North Pole in this sweet and salty tale of Christmas hijinks at the B Street Theatre.

It later was produced at the American Theatre Company in Chicago and was listed as one of Time Out: Chicago's "24 Shows To See In January." The story follows two average American families during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Taking place in an 1870s alive with danger, romance, and comic surprises, fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful valet circle the globe in an unheard-of 80 days. In the hilariously theatrical style of The 39 Steps, five actors portray dozens of characters in a thrilling race against time and treachery, recreating one of the greatest adventures of all time. Full of stampeding elephants, raging typhoons, and runaway trains, Around the World in 80 Days, adapted by the award-winning playwright Mark Brown, offers an imaginative and ingenious expedition for the whole family. Bloomsday was commissioned by the ACT theatre in Seattle, Washington and premiered there in September of 2015, where it received rave reviews. The play has received further productions throughout the country: the Ensemble Theatre in Cincinnati, Ohio, Austin Playhouse in Austin, Texas, and the Next ACT Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Hand to God premiered at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City in October 2011 and returned in February 2012. It opened Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on March 14, 2014 and made its Broadway debut at the Boothe Theatre on April 7, 2015.

Capital Stage presents Stuping F##king Bird by Aaron Posner, the irreverent adaptation of Chekov's classic The Seagull, originally comissioned and first performed by Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington, DC in 2013.

Capital Stage presents Stuping F##king Bird by Aaron Posner, the irreverent adaptation of Chekov's classic The Seagull, originally comissioned and first performed by Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington, DC in 2013. Michael Stevenson, Capital Stage Producing Artistic Director, will direct this Sacramento Premiere which will feature a powerhouse cast of local favorites including Brittni Barger, Jason Kuykendall and Capital Stage Co-Founder Peter Mohrmann. Bird will be the fifth production of Capital Stage's 2016-17 Season: Love + War, and will run from May 3 - June 4, 2017 with a Press Opening on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 8pm.
