What did our critic think of THE LIGHTNING THIEF: THE PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL at Pulaski Academy Theatre Department?

As a Broadway World writer, I am confident in saying that Arkansas is blessed with a wonderfully talented theatrical community. The love for theatre is evident in the quality of the productions that are offered in our state. From where does this love start? Some just magically discover it one day-probably by being forced at first to attend a show, but then realizing how fun this world is. Most of us, however, started in school. My love for theatre began when I would watch my older cousins perform in plays at the high school. Then in ninth grade, I was able to join our community theatre for a production. By tenth grade, I was in my first high school play, and from then on, I was performing in some fashion or another.

The Studio Theatre is set to stage The Little Mermaid Jr. from Thursday, March 10 through Sunday, March 20, 2022. All Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances are scheduled for 7:30pm. Saturday and Sunday matinees begin at 2:30pm.

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre has announced that single tickets are now on sale for A Charlie Brown Christmas. The whole Peanuts gang comes to life in this stage adaptation of the classic TV special, featuring a fantastic, jazz-infused score.

The Young Players will present Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr., July 7-10, at the Royal Theatre in historic Downtown Benton.  The show is directed by D. Brent Miller with music direction by Jo Murry and choreography by Jenny Johnston.  Filled with fun flappers, dashing leading men and a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie JR., is a clever adaptation of the six-time-Tony-Award-winning Best Musical and the Academy Award-winning film. Thoroughly Modern Millie JR., is the high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston!  It's 1922 in New York City, and a young Millie Dillmount has just moved to the Big Apple in search of a new life.  Her grand plan is to find a job as a secretary for a wealthy man and then marry him. However, her plan goes completely awry. Millie's wealthy boss is slow in proposing marriage, and the man she actually falls in love with doesn't have a dime to his name - or so he tells her.  What's a small town girl to do? 

The Community Theatre of Little Rock is pleased to conclude its 60th Season with our Summer Musical 'Annie Get Your Gun' by Irving Berlin. Show dates are June 3rd-5th, 10th-12th and 17th-19th to be held at The Studio Theatre, 320 West 7th Street in Downtown Little Rock.
