Following last week’s 20th Anniversary of Jim Caruso’s Cast Party, photographer Kevin Alvey was at it again, shooting a myriad of performers at this week’s edition! Host Jim Caruso and musical director Billy Stritch (with Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums) welcomed nineteen talented artists to the Birdland stage.
Alex Boniello has joined the cast of the new Descendants movie musical on Disney+. The Spring Awakening and Dear Evan Hansen star will play Jack of Diamonds, the captain of the Queen of Hearts' Red Army. He joins the recently confirmed Paolo Montalban, who will reunite with his “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella” co-star Brandy.
Montalban will portray King Charming, Cinderella’s (Brandy) husband and Chloe’s (Malia Baker) dad, who is as much in love with Cinderella as he ever was. He previously played Prince Charming opposite Brandy’s Cinderella in Walt Disney Television’s iconic 1997 movie “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.”
Brandy Norwood will return to the role of Cinderella, which she first played in Disney’s 1997 “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” in a new installment to the Descendants musical franchise on Disney+. She joins Rita Ora, China Anne McClain, Kylie Cantrall, Dara Reneé, and Morgan Dudley, who recently starred in 'Jagged Little Pill' on Broadway.
New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players' 48th season will continue December 30-31, 2022 and January 7 -8, 2023 with the mounting of a Gilbert & Sullivan staple, H.M.S. Pinafore; or, The Lass That Loved a Sailor at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.
New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players will begin its 48th season with its colorful and vivacious production of the Gilbert & Sullivan’s classic send up of Republican (in the generic sense) principles and class distinction The Gondoliers. The she will run from Friday, October 28th through Sunday, October 30th.
The expansive new story introduces 'Red,' the whip-smart and rebellious teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts ('Alice in Wonderland') and 'Chloe,' the perfectionist and athletic daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming ('Cinderella'). Jennifer Phang ('Advantageous,' 'Half-Life,' 'Foundation,' 'The Flight Attendant') is set to direct.
New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players will return to New York for its 47th season, and its first full production since January 2020, with one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most famed works, The Pirates of Penzance.

Casting Society of America (CSA) today announced the television and theatre nominees for the 35th Artios Awards, which honor the contribution of Casting Directors to film, television and theatre. The winners will be revealed on Thursday, January 30, 2020 in ceremonies in Los Angeles, New York City and London. Comedian, actor and writer Ron Funches will serve as host for the Los Angeles event.
