Main Street Theater is presenting the initial digital premiere of The Book of Magdalene by Caridad Svich, the first ever showing of her new work. In 2009, Main Street Theater presented the English-language premiere of Ms. Svich’s The House of the Spirits, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Isabel Allende.

Main Street Theater continues its 42nd Season with Men on Boats by Jaclyn Backhaus - and it's played by all women.  Men on Boats tells the story of Major John Wesley Powell's actual expedition of the Grand Canyon in 1869.  The play depicts the amazing journey of these 10 explorers with all its humor and wonder and danger and excitement.  It's an extraordinary adventure.

The Ensemble Theatre kicks off its 40th Anniversary Season audience choice, The Nacirema Society Requests the Honor of your Presence at a Celebration of Their First One Hundred Years, by Pearl Cleage and directed by Eileen J. Morris with Opening Night and media reception, Thursday, March 23, 2017.

Tonight, The Ensemble Theatre begins its celebration of Satchel Paige and Negro League Baseball with season ender SATCHEL PAIGE AND THE KANSAS CITY SWING by Trey Ellis & Ricardo Khan. The production runs through July 31.

In Houston, The Ensemble Theatre is proudly opening its 36th season with Pearl Cleage's THE NACIREMA SOCIETY REQUESTS THE HONOR OF YOUR PRESENCE AT A CELEBRATION OF THEIR FIRST ONE HUNDRED YEARS, often shorted to THE NACIREMA SOCIETY. The play premiered to fantastic audience reception on October 20, 2010 at Alliance Theatre at the Woodruff in Atlanta, Georgia, and The Ensemble Theatre's production makes it very easy to see why it was so well received.
