Get ready for the time of your life this spring! BDT Stage is presenting a limited engagement run this April, welcoming back Motones vs Jerseys April 3 - 26, 2019.
Hot. Shredded. Cheese. You know what I'm talking about. That gooey kind that stretches from the plate to your mouth, and you just can't get enough. That's how BDT Stage's current '80s jukebox musical Rock of Ages feels.
It takes a special kind of movie to be converted into a stage musical. Luckily for Footloose, with a dance-centric plot serenaded by some rad '80s tunes, it's got something to work with.
From the singing, to the staging, and the multimedia effects, every song was a performance work of art and captivated me from beginning to end!

I have to compliment Ignite Theatre for picking the talent needed to pull off the heavy, lead roles required for this show.
Aida, the Tony Award winning musical based on the Verdi opera, is the story of the unlikely love triangle between Amneris, the Pharo's daughter, Radames, captain of the Egyptian army and Aida, an enslaved Nubian princess. As a forbidden love blossoms between Aida and Radames, the young lovers are between love, responsibility or death. A timeless star crossed love story that sets a shining example of true devotion that transcends the cultural differences of race and, ultimately, time itself.

Unfortunately, while the actors sang their hearts out in memorable moments, due to several glaring technical errors, the show never reached its full potential.
Congratulations to the 2013 Colorado Theatre Festival award winners. Check out photos of the winners below!

If there's one thing Colorado Springs could use right now (apart from help rebuilding after yet another devastating wildfire), it's a little catharsis. So while the timeliness of Fine Arts Center's Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris certainly wasn't intentional, it's nonetheless welcome, as Brel's clever, cynical ballads are just the sort of thing to vent all that pent up frustration and clear away some room for hope.
