The Theater Project is once again reaching out to creative young people in its 19th annual Young Playwrights Competition. Winners receive cash prizes and see their work performed by professional actors at the Zoom awards ceremony in the spring. The Theater Project will rebroadcast last year’s four winning plays at 7:30 PM, Thursday, January 14.

The event includes playwrighting tutorials for interested students, opportunities for young writers to interact with adult playwrights, acceptance speeches, prizes a?" and pizza. A light lunch before the event allows the new playwrights to meet each other, as well as the actors and directors who put the new work on its feet.

After auditioning performers in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre has confirmed casting for all six shows in the 65th Music Circus season. The stellar cast for the season is loaded with Broadway veterans, some of whom are making their Music Circus debuts, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus productions.
Thommie Retter, (Billy Elliot) and Retter Entertainment provide unique opportunities for aspiring young performers through This Way To Broadway, a series of workshops culminating in showcase opportunities, including singing, acting, and dancing. The coming event, Almost There, will take place at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space located at 2537 Broadway.
