The Wild Root Company, a new production endeavor committed to developing and presenting new works of theatre and film from emerging playwrights and screenwriters, presented a successful one-night-only benefit reading of Gloria, a brand new screenplay adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald''s masterpiece The Beautiful and Damned at The Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons on Monday January 6, 2014. Check out a look back below!

The reading, which was directed by two-time Drama Desk Award nominee Ed Sylvanus Iskandar, drew more than 150 patrons and industry folk to the midtown Off-Broadway venue. All profits raised from the evening were donated to the Ali Forney Center for Homeless LGBTQ Youth. Photos from the evening and a video about the new adaptation of Fitzgerald's novel, featuring interviews from the cast and creative team, are below.

The cast of Gloria featured Tony and Drama Desk Award winner Dick Latessa (Broadway's The Lyons, Hairspray, Brighton Beach Memoirs), Tony Award nominee Zach Grenier (Broadway''s Man and Boy, 33 Variations; CBS'' "The Good Wife"), Genevieve Angelson (Broadways Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike; Showtime''s "House of Lies") and Zachary Spicer (Broadway''s Wit), Josh Banks ("The Bourne Legacy"), Kaolin Bass ("In Between Men"), Jean Brassard (Bistro Award Winner, The Kid From Paris), Rachel Annette Helson (Bullet for Adolph), Sean Hudock ("Private Romeo"), Bret Lada ("Alpha House") Brad Makarowski (Metropolitan Playhouse''s Both Your Houses), Ed Malone (Irish Rep''s Juno and the Paycock), Lauren Schaffel ("Still Standing"), Jonathan Spivey (The Old Globe), Douglas Taurel ("The Cobbler"), Daniel Mitura and Leigh Wade. Casting was by Darragh Garvey, IlLana Stein was the Assistant Director and Katie Chew was the Stage Manager. Lorraine Rodriguez Reyes was the Associate Producer.

Gloria, which has been cleverly adapted from Fitzgerald''s celebrated novel by rising young writer Daniel Mitura, tells the provocative story of a young man''s struggle to survive in an unforgiving world, and the love of a lifetime that made it all worth fighting for. Audiences who attended the evening were the first to experience the new work. Mitura''s stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde''s The Picture of Dorian Gray premiered to acclaim at Theatre Row in 2010.
