Kitchen Theatre Company kicks off 2017 with the world premiere of Wendy Dann's poignant and poetic Birds of East Africa, directed by Rachel Lampert, now through February 12th. Key West's Red Barn Theatre will soon present the Regional Premiere of Buyer & Cellar, a one-man show by playwright Jonathan Tolins. Enjoying immediate success at the non-profit Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Buyer & Cellar moved to the Barrow Street Theatre for an Off-Broadway run. Playing to sold-out houses for months, Buyer & Cellar received an Off-Broadway extension until April of 2014. The critically acclaimed production went on to receive a Chicago engagement followed by a US Tour through November 2014.

As we previously reported, Roger Rees, the legendary, Tony Award-winning actor, and Tony Award nominated director, passed away last night at his home in New York City, after a brief journey with cancer. His husband,Rick Elice, and family and friends were at his side.

David Mirvish has finalized all the details and shows for his 2014-15 line-up of shows. There will be seven shows in the Mainstage Subscription Series, three in the Off-Mirvish Subscription Series and nine bonus shows not on subscription. That brings the total to a record 19 shows for the 2014-15 season. The season lineup was announced during an event held on September 16 at The Royal Alexandra Theatre. The shows slated to play Toronto over the next year are: Wicked (now playing), The Book of Mormon (now playing), Our Country's Good (now playing), Arcadia, The Heart of Robin Hood, Blithe Spirit, Titanic the Musical, Kinky Boots, Disney's Newsies, Buyer and Cellar, Boom, Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike, Julie Madly Deeply, The Boy With Tape on His Face, Donny and Marie: A Broadway Christmas, Jersey Boys, Blades on Stage, Dame Edna's Glorious Goodbye, and Once.

SAN DIEGO (July 24, 2014)-The Old Globe will host the 2014 Globe Gala on Saturday, July 26 in support of the theatre's education and artistic programs. The annual event will feature a one-night-only performance by Broadway veteran and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy, Into the Woods, NBC's The Sound of Music Live!, "The Good Wife," "Go On"), based on her smash hit New York cabaret (and new CD) In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention. Nina Doede, Deni Jacobs, and Sheryl White serve as Co-Chairs of the 2014 Globe Gala. Leading underwriters include Audrey Geisel,Darlene Marcos Shiley, Conrad Prebys and Debra Turner, and Sheryl and Harvey White.

Michael Urie, currently starring in the national tour of the 2014 Lucille Lortel Award winning comedy BUYER AND CELLAR, was visited by a pair of fellow Broadway vets at Chicago's Broadway Playhouse last night. Michael Urie will launch the first national tour of Buyer & Cellar at Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place beginning Tuesday, May 6, 2014, through Sunday, June 15, 2014, followed by an engagement at Washington D.C.'s Harman Center for the Arts from Friday, June 20, 2014 through Sunday, June 29, 2014. Buyer & Cellar, starring Michael Urie will then play Los Angeles' Mark Taper Forum for six weeks from Wednesday, July 9, 2014 through Sunday, August 17, 2014.
