Great Expectations Photos - West End

Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, opens its 2018/19 season with Qui Nguyen's Vietgone, directed by Lavina Jadhwani, featuring original music and music direction by Gabriel Ruiz and choreography by Tommy Rapley. Vietgone runs August 15 - September 23, 2018 in the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe. The Press Opening is Wednesday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Birmingham's famous outer circle bus route is to be the setting for a new play at Birmingham Repertory Theatre this May. Circles, Rachel De-lahay's vivid and powerful drama set on Birmingham's number 11 bus boldly explores cycles of violence and what it takes to break them. Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, will continue its record-setting 21st season with the classic thriller Deathtrap by Ira Levin. Fresh from the success of Almost Heaven, John Denver's America, which garnered the highest attendance ever for a season opening production, director by Robert J. Artistic Director Robert Lyons presents the 20th annual Obie Award-winning Ice Factory Festival. Ice Factory 2013 takes place at the New Ohio Theatre, located at 154 Christopher Street between Greenwich and Washington Streets in New York City. A new stage adaptation of Charles Dickens's Great Expectations will open at the West End's Vaudeville Theatre on 6 February 2013, following previews from 1 February. Reprising their roles from the play's recent, successful UK tour, Jack Ellis will star as Jaggers, Chris Ellison as Magwitch and Paula Wilcox as Miss Havisham. The cast of 14 also includes Paul Nivison as Adult Pip, Grace Rowe as Estella and Taylor Jay-Davies as Young Pip. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage in the West End below!

Tony and Olivier Award-winner John Caird (Les Misérables and Nicholas Nickleby), West End rising star Sam Caird, and Tony nominee Paul Gordon (Jane Eyre) recently arrived in Ventura to begin rehearsals for a new holiday musical entitled LITTLE MISS SCROOGE, which will be presented as a limited-run staged concert for Rubicon Theatre subscribers, December 12 through 23, 2012. (The fully staged World Premiere will be produced by Rubicon in December of 2013.) BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage in the photos below!

From 4 February 2013 a new cast will perform in Nicholas Hytner's five star West End production of One Man, Two Guvnors. As previously announced, Rufus Hound will take the lead as loveable chancer Francis Henshall. He will join new cast members Sam Alexander, Ian Burfield, Amy Cudden, Harry Kershaw, Kelly Price and Hugh Sachs. Martin Barrass will return to the production to play Alfie, and current cast members David Benson, Rhona Croker and Derek Elroy will continue. Designs are by Bob Crowley with lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by John Leonard. The cast is Pip Carter (Edward Thomas), Pandora Colin (Eleanor), Ifan Huw Dafydd (Philip Thomas), Shaun Dooley (Robert Frost), Hattie Morahan (Helen Thomas) and Dan Poole (Bott/Major Lushington). Richard Eyre has returned to the Almeida Theatre to direct the world premiere of Nick Dear's The Dark Earth and the Light Sky. Running from 8 November 2012 - 12 January 2013, press night is 15 November 2012. Designs are by Bob Crowley with lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by John Leonard.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre greets the new year by proudly presenting its 50th world premiere, a new comedy about marriage, intimacy, and electricity from the creators of Eurydice. Celebrated playwright Sarah Ruhl and Obie Award-winning director Les Waters come together again for the debut of In the Next Room (or the vibrator play). Commissioned by Berkeley Rep and staged in the state-of-the-art Roda Theatre, this hotly anticipated play begins previews on January 30, opens February 4, and closes March 15.
