In 1994, Bette Midler returned to New York after nearly 20 years in Los Angeles, and started the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization devoted to bringing abandoned and neglected parks, gardens, and open spaces in all five boroughs back to life. NYRP includes the beautiful New Leaf Cafe in Fort Tryon Park as part of its success, and is committed to helping restore parks and gardens devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The organization just held its 12th Annual Spring Picnic and you can check out full coverage below!

Saturday night, November 19th, Melissa Errico made her long awaited return to solo concert-ing at the newly renovated (beautifully) Joe's Pub. The venue was packed with family, friends and fans who, pretty much, went wild when she walked up onto the stage. She was accompanied by an unbelieveably expert trio of musicians led by the legendary John Oddo. The evening's music program was extremely well chosen and beautifully performed and sung. Errico's patter, storytelling and anecdotal skills were also on show, in top form and wildly entertaining.

Friday night at the Waldorf-Astoria, Bette Midler hosted Hulaween 2011, her annual gala to benefit the New York Restoration Project. In addition to a lauded career as a singer and actress, Midler has made her first foray into Broadway producing with PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, currently playing on Broadway at the Palace Theatre. Last night at the Waldorf-Astoria, Bette Midler hosted Hulaween 2010, her annual gala to benefit the New York Restoration Project. This year's event honored Senator John Kerry and featured a special performance by Paul Simon, a costume contest judged by Michael Kors and a live auction with Judy Gold. New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reclaiming and restoring New York City parks, community gardens and open space. In partnership with the City of New York, NYRP is also leading MillionTreesNYC - an initiative to plant and care for one million new trees throughout New York City's five boroughs by 2017.
