Repertory Philippines presents its 76th theater season's closing production, Tony Award-winning musical "The Producers," which opens on Friday, November 15 at Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati City.

A long delayed follow-up to 2009's N.O.A.H. (No Ordinary Aquatic Habitat), Trumpets' new production 'The Bluebird of Happiness,' a musical adaptation of Maurice Maeterlinck's play of the same name, featuring music by Rony Fortich and book and lyrics by Jaime del Mundo, tells a story set on Christmas Eve, at the height of the frustration of siblings Mytyl and Tyltyl over not having the material things they think would make their lives better. It is a scene that is familiar not only among children but even adults. Mytyl and Tyltyl's frustration is a reminder of lives that are driven by making ends meet or by achieving material wants that makes us lose sight of the very things that should have made us happy in the first place.

As an early Christmas gift, Trumpets, Asia's first professional gospel theater group, known for original Filipino musicals such as 'First Name' and 'Little Mermaid'--shows with strong moral and spiritual messages--brings to Meralco Theater another family-centric production, 'The Bluebird of Happiness,' which runs until Sunday, October 20.

Tanghalang Pilipino's "Ibalong," a dance-musical reimagining of the Bicolano epic, topped the 1st/2nd-quarter citations of the 2013 Gawad Buhay!, the Philstage Awards for the Performing Arts, with 15 citations in the performance and technical categories.

'The Bluebird of Happiness,' theater company Trumpets' ('The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,' 'The Little Mermaid') take on Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck's 1908 play 'The Blue Bird,' featuring book and lyrics by Jaime del Mundo ('The Little Mermaid,' 'N.O.A.H.') and music by Rony Fortich ('N.O.A.H.' 'Stages of Love'), has just released the new musical's first video teaser.

The De La Salle Brothers, Roman Catholic religious brothers who dedicate their lives to educating young people, recently celebrated the centennial anniversary of De La Salle University (DLSU) in the Philippines, and commemorated their colleagues who were killed by Japanese soldiers in World War II via the restaging of the cantata (a vocal chamber work) A FIRE IN THE SOUL, which features libretto by Vicente Groyon III, music by Von de Guzman, and direction by Peque Gallaga.

My alma mater turns 100 this year; and, I'm encouraging you to take part in its year-long celebration. Actor turned designer Mio Infante has both or either designed scenography and costumes of some of the biggest and arguably the best children-centric musical theater productions of the past 11 years: Trumpets' LITTLE MERMAID(2001) and THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE(2002); and Atlantis Productions' Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST(2005) were some of the magical worlds he has created on stage.

For its first offering this year, 9 Works Theatrical presents the musical comedy YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN - based on the comic strip 'Peanuts' by Charles Schulz; featuring book by John Gordon; and music and lyrics by Clark Gesner.
