Cafe Carlyle is pleased to welcome back acclaimed husband-and-wife duo John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey for a four-week engagement, November 3-28. They'll make their annual fall pilgrimage to The Carlyle with an all-new show entitled My Generation. My Generation features selections from Mitchell to McCartney, Simon to Sondheim. Additionally, they'll be performing tracks from John's acclaimed new album, Midnight McCartney.

You've probably heard a variation of this joke at a cabaret performance.  The performer will say something like "if you know the words, please don't sing along." Ann Hampton Callaway teasingly cajoles her audience to join in while she's singing a musically complex scat arrangement during her act.  When John Pizzarelli asked the The Carlyle audience to sing along as he and Daniel Jobim sang the nights closing number (Antonio Carlos Jobim's Aqua De beber), it wasn't funny.  The many Brazilians filling the seats in the Cafe  expertly chanted in Portuguese. Sometimes I find it difficult to handle the syncopated rhythms which accent the second beat of a measure in Bossa Nova, but this crowd didn't.

He will premiere Strictly Bossa Nova II, a new concert of bossa nova music featuring the Brazilian singer-songwriter and pianist Daniel Jobim, grandson of the seminal Antonio Carlos Jobim, tonight, April 21-May 2, 2015.

Jazz guitarist/vocalist John Pizzarelli, the technically proficient fretman with a soft voice, charming stage presence, and knack for uptempo swing, took the stage of Birdland last night, February 6, with his quartet and special guest Jessica Molasky. Jessica Molaskey bravely walked to the Cafe Carlyle stage albeit with one crutch and the guidance of husband John Pizzarelli. Her replacement for the other evening when she injured her back, Bucky Pizzarelli was now in Colorado on a gig and John & Jessica were embarking on their 8th season of Cafe Carlyle performances. Luckily the Pizzarelli bench had someone to replace Jessica Molaskey at last night's performance. 88 year young Bucky Pizzarelli was the designated musician, and for lovers of jazz and great music this was a night to remember. It was a spectacular display of guitar playing as the symmetry of notes between father and son(s), with Martin on bass is a unique listening experience.

Cafe Carlyle will welcome back acclaimed husband-and-wife duo John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey for a four-week engagement, October 28 - November 22. They'll make their annual fall pilgrimage to The Carlyle with an all-new show entitled Grown Up Songs. Grown Up Songs features sophisticated selections for the most sophisticated venue in New York City with music by Stephen Sondheim, Johnny Mercer, Paul McCartney, Alan Jay Lerner, Adam Guettel, Billy Joel and more.

Hosted by Ted Chapin and airing on New Jersey's public television NJTV, the American Songbook at NJPAC features live performances of America's finest interpreters of the Great American Songbook. Perfermors include Marilyn Maye, Tommy Tune, Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman, John Pizzarelli, Nellie McKay and Laura Osnes & Santino Fontana, with John Pizzarelli performing an entire show of songs by the great master himself, Johnny Mercer.

John Pizzarelli once again expertly switches (musical) hats at Cafe Carlyle with his new concert of bossa nova music. The evening is titled "Strictly Bossa Nova" and it features Daniel Jobim, grandson of the seminal Antonio Carlos Jobim and an ensemble of Brazilian musicians.

In a career spanning five decades, pianist Monty Alexander has built a reputation exploring and bridging the worlds of American jazz, popular song, and the music of his native Jamaica, finding in each a sincere spirit of musical expression. This January, he will come to Blue Note Jazz Club to present a lineup of collaborative shows that combine the worlds of jazz and reggae in perfect harmony.

Grammy-nominated singer and guitarist John Pizzarelli joins the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra for the NJSO's first pops program of the season-"Home for the Holidays"-December 14 in Newark and December 15 in New Brunswick. Conductor Thomas Wilkins, a frequent NJSO guest conductor and audience favorite, leads concerts that feature the Salvation Army Montclair Citadel Band and the New Jersey High School Holiday Chorus.
