Celebrities, lovers, fun seekers, and glamorous sophisticated New Yorkers can be found at The Carlyle's Bememlmans Bar on Sunday nights from 9-12 getting a major dose of great music and wit as Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch hold court on Bobby Short street. There was a hurricane in Florida but everything was Sunny inside the Carlyle last night and Broadwayworld was there.

Write Out Loud - an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading short stories aloud for a live audience - announces THE LAST TIME I SAW PARIS, the fifth production in their 10th Anniversary Season. Write Out Loud Story Concerts bring literature to life - aloud - with rehearsed readings by professional actors. Each program explores specific themes by weaving a variety of stories, poems and music together into a literary tapestry. Amanda Sitton, Veronica Murphy, Walter Ritter and other WOL favorites will perform and Mark Danisovszky will play the music of Paris. A pre-show reception starts at 6:15pm with a 7:00pm curtain.

Creative Cauldron will ring in the holidays with Madeline's and the Gypsies, a musical adaptation of the classic book by the author/illustrator Ludwig Bemelmans. Barry Kornhauser adapted the book and Michael Koerner wrote the musical score. The production is directed and choreographed by Matt Conner. Scenic and Costume Designer Margie Jervis and Lighting Designer John Sami have created a whimsical visual world for the play inspired by Bemelmans' classic illustrations. Madeline and the Gypsies runs from tonight, December 4 - 27, 2015 at ArtSpace Falls Church, 410 South Maple Avenue. Curtain times are Todays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 2:00 pm with an additional performance on December 27 at 4:30 pm. Press night is Saturday, December 5 at 7:30 pm.

Penn Libraries to Display 'Covered in the Vines: The Many Talents of Ludwig Bemelmans'

Beloved children's book character Madeline has grown up to overshadow everything else her creator, Ludwig Bemelmans, accomplished during his long, varied, and highly productive career. In the spirit of reclamation, the Penn Libraries is proud to announce the exhibition 'Covered in Vines: The Many Talents of Ludwig Bemelmans.' The exhibition seizes the opportunity to show the Ludwig Bemelmans collection built by Jean Johnson Kislak, a longtime Bemelmans admirer and Madeline aficionado, presenting printed books, manuscripts, and art to recover a Bemelmans now largely forgotten.

Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return to Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel with an evening of swinging standards every Sunday in September, November and December, from 9pm - 12 midnight. The duo has recently added dozens of songs made famous by Frank Sinatra to their repertoire, thanks to their current national tour of The Sinatra Century. In this upcoming Carlyle run, Caruso and Stritch will be joined by bassist Steve Doyle.
Tony DeSare Set for Residency at Bemelmans Bar in The Carlyle

The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel, is pleased to welcome Tony DeSare, originator of the Sunday Night Bemelmans series, back to Bemelmans Bar for an extended Sunday night residency. Named a 'Rising Star' male vocalist in Downtown magazine's recent Critics' Poll, DeSare has lived up to the distinction by winning critical and popular acclaim for his performances throughout the US and across the globe. DeSare has three top ten Billboard Jazz albums under his belt and has been featured on the CBS Early Show, NPR and the Today Show. His music was recently posted by social media celebrity juggernaut, George Takei. Tony DeSare (piano/vocals) will be accompanied by Ed Decker (guitar) and Steve Doyle (bass) as a trio throughout the residency. They'll bring their fresh take on old school classics to Bemelmans Sunday nights, January 4-25; February 8 and 15; March 1 and 8.
