This evening of song and dance will include such notables as:

Vineyard Theatre's annual Gala, this year celebrating the institution's 30th Anniversary, took place at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street) last night, March 18, 2013 beginning at 6:00 p.m. (cocktails at 6:00pm, dinner at 7:30pm and performance at 8:30pm). The creators and cast of the musical NOW. HERE. THIS. and Vineyard Theatre, where the musical debuted Off-Broadway in March, have launched a campaign on Kickstarter.com to raise funds for an original cast recording of the album, it has been announced. The fundraising goal is $75,000 by August 30, 2012 and a mere three days after the effort was begun on Friday, August 3, the campaign has already met 50 percent of its goal.

The producers of the forthcoming West End production of the Broadway musical [title of show] are pleased to confirm that the show is on track to open in 2013, adding that all members of the original Broadway cast (Hunter Bell, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickentaff, Jeff Bowen, and Larry Pressgrove), together with the director and choreographer who helmed the show's 2008 Broadway run (Michael Berresse) have all confirmed their intention to reprise their roles for the London run subject to final scheduling.

Veteran Kitchen Theatre artistic collaborators Rachel Lampert & Larry Pressgrove's Waiting for Spring is an expansion of Act 2 of their well-received Comfort Food. The production boasts a cast of Broadway veterans. Opening Night is tonight, June 2nd. It runs for three weeks, closing June 17th, 2012.

NOW. HERE. THIS. closes tonight, April 28, after playing an extended run at the Vineyard Theatre.

Due to critical praise and popular demand, Vineyard Theatre has announced a final extension - now through April 28 - for the new musical NOW. HERE. THIS., which opened to rave reviews and sold out houses at The Vineyard on March 28. This will be the second and final extension for the show, which must close on April 28 due to season and artist schedules.

Despite the loveable antics of those hard-working ladies from Texas, Broadway musicals have always been a little awkward around prostitutes.  The book of New Girl In Town (based on Anna Christie) gets tongue-tied when trying to be honest about its title character's former profession and the creators of Sweet Charity turned Nights of Cabiria's prostitute protagonist into New York's most chaste taxi dancer.  To this day I'm certain there are little boys performing in Oliver! who believe Nancy is some kind of den mother and Bet is her helpful assistant.
