Parks Commissioner Veronica M. White today joined Council Member Vincent Gentile, Chief of Staff to Borough President Markowitz Jon Paul Lupo, Assembly Member Alec Brook Krasny, Council Member Domenic Recchia, Council Member Peter Koo, President/Chief Executive Officer of the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance Roland Lewis and District Manager of Community Board 10 Josephine Beckmann, to cut the ribbon on South Brooklyn's first Eco Dock, a floating dock that rises and falls with the tide and has minimal impact on the surrounding natural resources. The $1.1 million Eco Dock was designed to be resilient in the event of a storm surge, and is the first in the city to provide both educational programming through 'floating classrooms' as well as recreational boating opportunities. After the speaking program, students from Bay Ridge Prep, John Dewey and Fort Hamilton High Schools boarded the schooner Pioneer for a tour and a waterfront education program.

BLUE13 Dance Company led by Artistic Director, ACHINTA S. McDANIEL, and Associate Artistic Director, Arun Mathai, will present the world premiere of FIRE & POWDER, a modern day dance theatre adaptation of Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story in which the rival houses of Hip-Hop Capulets battle Bollywood Montagues. The tale of star-crossed lovers is told through contemporary Indian dance, hip-hop, Bhangra, break dance and tap set to a rousing soundtrack including live drumming by Dhol Nation, modern rock and Bollywood hits, and original music written by composers from around the globe. This fiercely energetic new show, featuring over 20 dancers, will be presented tonight, August 3, 2013 at 8:30 p.m. at the John Anson Ford Theatres, 2580 Cahuenga Boulevard East, Hollywood, Calif.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston has announced the cast of My Fair Lady, the beloved Lerner and Loewe musical masterpiece about an arrogant and crotchety phonetics professor who transforms a spirited Cockney flower girl into an elegant, proper-speaking English lady. Broadway's Rick Hilsabeck (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Billy Elliot, the first national tour of Phantom of the Opera) stars as the curmudgeonly professor Henry Higgins. His real-life co-star Sarah Pfisterer (Phantom of the Opera, Show Boat, Children and Art) is his reluctant protégé Eliza Doolittle. The title says it all, the Jamboree is sure to have you busting a gut, tapping your toes, singing along and pulling the straw from your teeth. The show will feature hilarious original sketches and a revolving roster of guest artists and musical acts. Directed by MET Artistic Director Tad Janes and Associate Artistic Directors Gené Fouché and Julie Herber, the show runs from tonight, May 10 through June 3 every Thursday through Sunday at the MET, located in the historic FSK hotel at 31 W Patrick Street.
