The hills are alive as Surflight Theatre continues its 2012 season with The Sound of Music. Directed and choreographed by Charles Abbott, with music direction by Ben Krauss, The Sound of Music opens tonight, July 24 and runs through August 25, 2012. Tickets ($36-$54) are available by calling 609-492-9477 or at www.surflight.org.

Acclaimed filmmaker Baz Luhrmann stopped by Show at Barre's production of FOR THE RECORD: Baz Luhrmann to catch a performance of the sold out critically acclaimed concert that celebrates his Red Curtain Trilogy (Moulin Rouge, Romeo and Juliet, Strictly Ballroom). Following the performance, Mr. Luhrmann took the microphone and congratulated the cast. 'Bravo! Absolutely bravo! I had an out of body experience tonight.'

Just Off Broadway, Inc., and the New Windsor Playhouse announced today that they will present their First Annual Holiday Concert Benefit 'A Celebration in Song' on Saturday, December 18 at 7PM and Sunday, December 19 at 3PM, at the Aquinas Hall Theatre on the campus of Mount Saint Mary's College, 330 Powell Avenue in Newburgh.

The 45 Bleecker Theatre, current home to Deep Throat Sex Scandal and Perfect Harmony has shut down due to a landlord-tenant dispute. Performances of both shows were cancelled last night and are postponed indefinitely.
