Broadway Buskers, Times Square Alliance’s concert series celebrating the performers and singer-songwriters of the theater community, will return to the Plazas of Times Square in anticipation of Broadway’s reopening this fall.

Grassroots arts organization Intersectional Voices Collective, in partnership with Hi-Arts and The Africa Center, announced the second iteration of last year’s combination Black Lives Matter demonstration and Pride party, the Juneteenth Jubilee.

Radial Park opened its latest cinemersive experience last night with the iconic, blockbuster, fan-favorite film, The Blues Brothers! The Blues Brothers, features a live band and theatrical performances seamless timed in-sync with the movie in a one-of-a-kind hybrid mashup. The Blues Brothers, is directed by Kristine Bendul and Waldemar QuinonesVillanueva, and features a cast that includes Broadway's Charity Angel Dawson, Nick Rashad Burroughs, F. Michael Haynie, Brian Charles Johnson, and Antoine L. Smith, along with Ladonna Burns and Anne Fraser Thomas.

Times Square Alliance has announced the second annual Songs for Our City songwriting competition, which will take place daily this June 1–5, 2021. Songs for Our City will highlight original music from Broadway actors and composers to provide a unique and interactive way for audiences to enjoy new music, while celebrating the Broadway community.

In the week leading up to a meeting between the Actors’ Equity Association and the organizers of the March on Broadway, Laura Benanti, Stephanie J. Block, Sierra Boggess, and more have joined to host an Instagram Live series on their platforms focused on combating racism and inequity by passing the mic to members of marginalized communities to discuss their experiences in the industry.

A March on Broadway has been planned by Instagram users Nattalyee Randall (@50milerunforjusticeprotest) and Courtney Daniels (@randomblackgirllll) on Thursday, April 22 at 1pm ET.

The virtual edition of Broadway Backwards delivered an emotional and exuberant evening of performances and raised a record $749,555 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.
