Declan Donnellan will be awarded the Golden Lion of Venice. The board of La Biennale di Venezia will give the co-artistic director of Cheek by Jowl the award for lifetime achievement. The ceremony takes place on 29 July at this year's Biennale festival.

In Shakespeare's 400th anniversary year, Cheek by Jowl is delighted to announce that Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod will return to the French language with a new production of Shakespeare's Pericles opening in Paris and then going on to perform in Europe in 2018. This follows their acclaimed French language production of Ubu Roi which performed worldwide from 2013- 2015.

[UPDATE: The show has been extended thru July 31st by popular demand!] The internationally acclaimed physical theatre piece weaves together dynamic movement with a collage of American labor literature from Tennessee Williams and Studs Terkel, exploring the concept of work in America: what it does for us - and what it does to us.

The North American premiere of SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE opened on Saturday night at the Stratford Festival's Avon Theatre. This feel-good production is full of hilarious characters, stunning costumes, and clever references to the works of William Shakespeare. Most of all, though, it is full of heart.

Ryder Smith in the cast of its upcoming production of OSLO, a new play by J.T. Rogers, directed by Bartlett Sher.

The intimate performances will run six nights a week, Tuesday through Sunday, with doors opening at 8:00pm and performances beginning at 8:30pm. The 2016 version sees the addition of  "The Paradise," an exclusive pop-up bar with live music curated by Vagrant Bartenders. Wilderness, an experimental performance company that brings temporary theatrical experiences to vacant buildings awaiting redevelopment, presents this work in partnership with Ad Age Standout 2015 production company HeLo, and in association with Los Angeles Performance Practice and Imperial Art Studios. Today Festival Director Fergus Linehan unveiled the 2016 Edinburgh International Festival programme. This year's International Festival runs from Friday 5 to Monday 29 August, welcoming 2,442 artists from 36 nations to perform in Scotland's capital city.

In Shakespeare's 400th anniversary year, Cheek by Jowl today announce that their critically acclaimed Russian language production of Measure for Measure will open the 2016 Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet's Castle, Kronborg, Elsinore, with performances from 1 to 7 August. The festival will also celebrate a landmark anniversary, marking the 200th year of performing Shakespeare in this traditional setting.
