Normativity opens this year's NYMF Season playing a limited five-performance engagement beginning on Monday, July 18 at The Pearl Theatre (555 West 42nd Street). FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents The Playbillies in 'Oh Broadway Where Art Though' on June 14th at 9:30pm. Broadway's premier Bluegrass band is teaming up with stars from recent bluegrass musicals to perform all of the music from the Cohen Brothers' resplendent film 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou.' Proceeds from the evening's performance are going to benefit Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS. The set will feature classic tunes like 'Man of Constant Sorrow, 'You are my Sunshine,' 'I'll Fly Away,' 'Keep on the Sunny Side' and many more!

Just last night, The Public Theater presented its Annual Gala, THE UNITED STATES OF SHAKESPEARE at the Delacorte Theater. Directed by Jeremy McCarter, the always highly-anticipated gala included scenes from Shakespeare's greatest works and the American poems, songs, and stories they inspired, performed by some of The Public's and the nation's, most celebrated actors and musicians.

The Public Theater presents the new musical Southern Comfort, the true story of a group of transgender friends living life on their own terms in the back hills of rural Georgia, directed by Thomas Caruso and based on the film by Kate Davis. Southern Comfort features book and lyrics by Dan Collins, music by Julianne Wick Davis, choreography by Ryan Kasprzak, and was conceived for the stage by Robert DuSold and Thomas Caruso. The new musical will run through Sunday, March 27 in The Public's Anspacher Theater. Check out photos from opening night below!

The Public Theater will begin previews for the new musical Southern Comfort, the true story of a group of transgender friends living life on their own terms in the back hills of rural Georgia, on Tuesday, February 23. SOUTHERN COMFORT begins previews on Tuesday, February 23 and will run through Sunday, March 27 in The Public's Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Monday, March 7. A series of journal entries may work well as a literary device but as a theatrical endeavor it tends to fall flat. Unfortunately, Village Theatre's current stage interpretation of Jules Verne's famous novel "Around the World in 80 Days" falls into the latter category as the storytelling gets itself mired in such a passive voice that it just wasn't very interesting.
