ME, THE OTHER Film Set for Two More Screenings in Michigan


The production of a timely documentary film, “Me, The 'Other'” has brought over 200 people together to voice an urgent message for our times: elimination of prejudice of all kinds as a pre-requisite to achieving unity. The unsettling and rapidly-shifting energies in the world inspired over 200 (mostly volunteers) cast and crew members to come together with the urge to address the growing hatred and prejudice within our communities in a documentary film guaranteed to spark conversations about “otherness” and “oneness” in our human family.

Amas Musical Theatre to Host Staged Readings of ROUND THELONIOUS


Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab will present staged readings for the New York premiere of 'Round Thelonious, a new play with music about the unique relationship between Rothschild heiress Pannonica (Nica) de Koenigswarter and jazz genius Thelonious Monk, written and performed by Anita Pollard. Directed by Shidan Majidi with Musical Direction by Willerm Delisfort (on piano), the readings will be held on Monday, July 25th and Tuesday, July 26th at 7pm at Ripley Greer Studios (939 Eighth Avenue - between 55th & 56th Streets).

The York Theatre Company premiered the show last season and since its critically acclaimed reception, buzz has been swirling about a Broadway transfer as early as next season. Original Yank! cast member Bobby Steggert will be reprising his role in the upcoming workshop. New cast members include Santino Fontana, Morgan Spector, Michael Berresse, Nellie McKay, Jeff Hiller, Tally Sessions, Colt Prattes, Derrick Trumbly, Jeremy Cohen, Tyler Maynard, Cole Escola, Brad Bass, Cody Williams and Colin Bradbury.

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), announces Director Ciarán O'Reilly (Irish Repertory Theatre's THE EMPEROR JONES) and Choreographer Byron Easley (urbanStages' LANGSTON IN HARLEM) as winners of the Joe A. David Cromer Brought in to Direct YANK! for Broadway


The producers of Yank! A WWII Love Story announced today that award-winning director David Cromer will helm the upcoming Broadway production of the new musical by David and Joseph Zellnik. He replaces Igor Goldin, who directed the production off-Broadway this season.

Lortel Statues for 14 categories and 2 special awards were handed out by celebrity presenters at the 2010 Lucille Lortel Awards at a live awards ceremony tonight at Terminal 5. Hosted by the Off-Broadway League, the live show was co-hosted by Bryan Batt and Bebe Neuwirth and featured performances by Alan Menken, STOMP, Seth Rudetsky, Edward Watts of The Fanasticks and LaChanze.

Ivey, Dancy, Urie, YANK! et al. Garner Lucille Lortel Nominations; Awards Ceremony Set for 5/2


Nominations in 14 categories and 2 special awards were announced today by the Off-Broadway League for the 2010 Lucille Lortel Awards recognizing outstanding achievement Off-Broadway. This year's ceremony will benefit The Actors Fund.

Yank! Broadway-Bound in 2010-11 Season


The New York Times is reporting that the Off-Broadway hit Yank! is now Broadway-bound for the 2010-2011 theatre season. No details on the theatre, schedule or if the cast would remain in tact were announced for the move, which is said to be budgeted at $5 million dollars.

The York Theatre Company is currently running David Zellnik and Joseph Zellnik's musical, Yank! A World War II Love Story, through April 4, 2010. (The production opened February 24). Renowned actor, dancer, director and choreographer Tommy Tune recently took in the production and posed for a photo with the cast.
