Sarah Ellis is an NYC-based actor, concert artist, and film producer.. Her professional credits span across theatre, film, dance, commercial, and symphony work, locally in new works readings and labs in NYC, regionally as a leading lady in award-winning theaters across the country, including the First National Tour of the Tony-Award Winning “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder," and as a frequent guest artist with symphonies around the country. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State University where she received the Margaret “Peg” French Undergraduate Award in Theatre. Sarah is the Co-Creator/Producer of MT SHORTS, a production company that fosters emerging writers through the creation of original musical short films @mt_shorts. Kathy, who is Executive Director of Chichester Festival Theatre, will take up the position from Donna Munday in June 2023. The Wedding Singer The Musical Comedy, based on the 1998 Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore film, will open on January 27 and run until February 26 at The Gateway in Bellport.
MT Shorts, the award-winning creative production company behind 'Hey, Beautiful!' and 'High School Zoomiscal', has announced its next original musical short film, STILL HERE, starring Broadway's Nathaniel Stampley (Paradise Square, The Color Purple), Lana Gordon (Hadestown, CHICAGO) and featuring Nicholas Rodriguez (Company, Tarzan), Lance Roberts (The Music Man, My Fair Lady), Michelle Dawson (Spiderman, Mamma Mia), David Harris (Moulin Rouge, 3x Helpmann Award Nominee), and Natalie Roy (CBS's The Equalizer, Showtimes' The Affair), directed by Kaye Tuckerman (Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, Mamma Mia).
In the end, it is largely the combination of sensitively-selected detail and poetic diction on the one hand, and the big-picture view of various interlocked social problems that makes the show so extraordinary. In that big picture, the problems are too pervasive, too ingrained to surmount, and well-intentioned people trying to escape those problems will probably fail. In the end, the play suggests, we are much more the product of the forces that shaped us than of our own volition.
