 Stagecrafters presents the Production of Mamma Mia! Running from May 6–29, 2022 at the Baldwin Theatre in downtown Royal Oak.

Nicely Theatre Group has announced the cast for its March 2022 production of the Tony Award-winning classic musical comedy Anything Goes. Nicely Creative Director Mitch Master directs with choreography by Allison Hunt-Kaufmann and vocal and music direction by Amy Sauve.

The cast and director will pick up where they left off to deliver an exceptional comedy. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella will dazzle audiences during the holiday season, 9 to 5 will make audiences smile in January, A Midsummer Night's Dream put on by Stagecrafters Youth Theatre will take place in March, and Mamma Mia! will close the season with many laughs and smiles in May of 2022.

Through February 17th, you can catch the recent Broadway musical If/Then at Royal Oak's Baldwin Theatre. If/Then, originally starring Idina Menzel as Elizabeth, finished its 401 performance-run on Broadway on March 22, 2015 and followed up with a national tour that passed through Detroit in April 2016. Written by the duo behind the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal, Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, If/Then is yet another unique, very human story that everyone can find themselves in. In addition, its Broadway production was commended among critics and audiences alike for being a rare original musical in an age of adaptations.

Royal Oak's very own Stagecrafters is bringing one of Broadway's recent musicals, If/Then, to Metro Detroit starting January 25th at the Baldwin Theatre. If/Then, originally starring Broadway superstar Idina Menzel as Elizabeth, is a very human story that pretty much anyone can relate to. Elizabeth, a recent divorcee, returns to New York after spending 12 years in Phoenix with her husband. In the same park at the same time, she reconnects with one of her old college friends, Lucas, and becomes friends with a stranger, Kate. Then she's met with a choice: does she seek out new experiences as "Liz," or does she start advancing her professional career as "Beth?" Following these two different storylines, we learn the consequences of both choices and discover the power that a single decision can have on your life. If/Then is directed by Rodel Salazar. Any visit to the Baldwin Theatre in Royal Oak is a treat, but the fantastic production now on stage, MARY POPPINS will blow you away. This show is super! [cali, etc.] Stagecrafters have made this show a delight from the very moment you walk into the room; here you will see a Mary Poppins Christmas tree, with ornaments of kites, crowned by a signature nanny hat. Of course, just walking into the theatre gives a sense of majesty with that beautiful English Wedgwood blue and gilded gold all around. The show is a holiday treat; it has great tunes, great costumes and sets, a wonderful plot, and lots of magic.

Stagecrafters at the Baldwin Theatre proudly announces its fifty-seventh season, which opens in July 2013 with the youth theatre production of Seussical Jr. The ambitious 10-production season features seven musicals and three plays.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers angst which chronicles the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. I had the opportunity to review the show this weekend at The Box theatre in Mount Clemens, Michigan.

Grosse Pointe Theatre held the annual Clarence Awards Dinner on June 19th at MacRays Banquet Center in Harrison Township. The award is named for the first show GPT produced in 1948, Clarence, a comedy by Booth Tarkington. Awards went to GPT members from the Pointes and throughout Metro Detroit.

Miss Saigon opens on Sunday, April 26 with a 2:00 p.m. matinee. Remaining performances are Wednesday, April 26 to Sunday, May 3, and Wednesday May 6 through May 9. Evening performances are at 8:00 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 2:00 p.m.
