What did our critic think of SHANE at Guthrie Theater? A mysterious man, dressed all in black, arrives on a farm in 1889 Wyoming, looking to wash up and be on his way but something compels him to stay.

The Guthrie Theater in co-production with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, presents the world premiere of Shane by Karen Zacarías, adapted from the novel by Jack Schaefer and directed by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park Artistic Director Blake Robison. Co-commissioned by the Guthrie and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in 2021, Shane will play July 15 – August 27, 2023, on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.

Damian Terriquez [he/they] (All Rise) and Kaleb Horn [he/him] (Hardy Boys, The Kid Detective) have been cast as recurring guest stars in the upcoming drama series Glamorous starring Miss Benny [they/them] (Fuller House, Love, Victor and American Horror Stories)  and Kim Cattrall  [she/her] (Queer as Folk, How I Met Your Father).

The Guthrie Theater has announced the return of its summer acting program, A Guthrie Experience, following a four-year hiatus. Founded in 1997 under the leadership of Kenneth Washington, A Guthrie Experience brings M.F.A. actors from around the country to the Twin Cities for a seven-week intensive and performance experience.

The Public Theater of San Antonio has announced new members to its Board of Trustees. The four new members include Kelly Archer Deary (Overland Partners Architects) who also brings experience from her time working for Disney Theatrical in New York; Brandon L. Howard CPA, PLLC (The University of Texas at San Antonio); Dacota Haselwood (Community Volunteer); and Ricardo Chavira (Actor, Selena: The Series, Desperate Housewives, Scandal).

Marking 20 years since the series premiere, the panel will feature creatives and cast from across the show’s impressive 14-season run as they revisit iconic storylines and moments from the series, the show’s groundbreaking approach to young adult storytelling, behind-the-scenes stories, and more.

Actor & musician Carlos Alfredo Jr., series regular in Selena: The Series Part 2 just released a tribute song to the legendary Tejano singer right on time to celebrate the premiere of Selena: The Series Part 2 on May 4th.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced casting for African Caribbean MixFest, a series of free readings co-produced by playwright Guadalís Del Carmen and playwright, director and Artistic Director of the Young Vic Kwame Kwei-Armah, that will run virtually Tuesday, January 19th through Friday, January 29th.

Netflix has announced that Christian Serratos will star as legendary icon Selena Quintanilla in their upcoming series Selena: The Series. Principal photography on the series began last month.
