Theater professionals from across Michigan will gather Aug. 28 when The 2017 Wilde Awards are presented at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts in the Detroit suburb of West Bloomfield.

The Purple Rose Theatre Company continues its strong tradition of producing world premieres and theatrical favorites for its 2016-2017 season. Artistic Director Guy Sanville poses the question, "Do you ever wish you had a second chance to meet someone again for the first time? Our 26th season is an enchanting mix that will feature two world premiere comedies by Michigan playwrights, a revival and a Pulitzer prize-winning American classic, all of which explore this question with humor, magic, mayhem and heart."

Superior Donuts, by Tracy Letts, author of the Pulitzer Prize winning play August: Osage County, opens the new season at The Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Michigan. The play debuted in Chicago in 2008 at Steppenwolf Theatre Company then moved to Broadway in 2009 and now it will make its Michigan debut at the Purple Rose. The comedy-drama is set in a Chicago donut shop and is about the unlikely friendship of the owner, Arthur, and his new employee. The esteemed actor Randolph Mantooth plays Arthur.

The Purple Rose Theatre Company has announced the 2012 / 2013 Season, which will feature two world premieres and two plays by award-winning playwrights. The theatre company's 22nd professional season will include: Superior Donuts by Tracy Letts, the world premiere of The Meaning of Almost Everything by Jeff Daniels, 33 Variations by Moises Kaufman and the world premiere of Miles & Ellie by Don Zolidis.
Playwright Rajiv Joseph, Director Moisés Kaufman, Mia Barron, Dan Byrd, Ricardo Chavira, Monique Coleman, Christopher Duncan, Harry Groener, Omari Hardwick, Bryce Dallas Howard, James Immekus, Darryl Jones, Eriq La Salle, Harry Lennix, Kai Lennox, Bai Ling, Jodi Long, Randolph Mantooth, Logan Marshall-Green, Ben McKenzie, Omar Metwally, Nate Parker, Rich Sommer, Sean Patrick Thomas, Marisa Tomei, Rutina Wesley, Charlayne Woodard all attended the opening of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo.
