Santa Cruz Shakespeare Unveils Summer 2023 Productions


Santa Cruz Shakespeare (SCS), a nationally recognized professional theater company in Santa Cruz County with deep local roots that go back more than 40 years, has announced the selection of three plays for its Summer 2023 repertory season: Taming of the Shrew,King Lear and Lauren Gunderson's The Book of Will. Performances will take place in the Audrey Stanley Grove (The Grove) in DeLaveaga Park.

Aurora Theatre Company presents U.S. Premiere of Steve Waters' TEMPLE


Aurora Theatre Company presents the U.S. Premiere of British playwright Steve Waters'(World Music, The Contingency Plan) hit play, TEMPLE. Aurora Artistic Director Tom Ross (Mud Blue Sky, A Bright New Boise, Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance) helms this thought-provoking new play, featuring Paul Whitworth, Sylvia Burboeck, J. Michael Flynn, Sharon Lockwood, Leontyne Mbele-Mbong, and Mike Ryan. TEMPLE plays April 14 through May 14 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. Aurora Theatre Company presents the U.S. Premiere of British playwright Steve Waters' (World Music, The Contingency Plan) hit play, TEMPLE. On October 15, 2011, Occupy London made camp outside St Paul's Cathedral, one of the most famous, beloved, and recognizable institutions in London.

Le Boeuf Brothers Perform at MJF Benefit at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach


The Monterey Jazz Festival and MJF Ambassador Diane Mitchella will host a special fundraising event beginning at 6:30pm on November 7 at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California. Music will be provided by the Le Boeuf Brothers, who are alumni of the Monterey Jazz Festival's education programs. Berkeley Repertory Theatre continues the second half of its season with Tribes, a sophisticated and moving family drama by celebrated British playwright Nina Raine. Her profound and powerful new play became an award-winning hit in London and New York. Now renowned director Jonathan Moscone brings it to Berkeley Rep this April for its Bay Area premiere. Tribes follows Billy, a young man who was born deaf into a loquacious and highly opinionated academic family who raised him to lip-read and integrate into the hearing world. When he meets Sylvia - raised by Deaf parents and going deaf herself - Billy decides it's time to speak on his own terms and to be heard. Playing out in words, sign language, and sometimes mesmerizing silence, this penetrating drama examines familial love, notions of belonging, and the intersections of communication.
