In the Heights, from composer and lyricist, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and librettist Quiara Alegría Hudes, is a joyful story set over the course of three days, involving characters in the largely Dominican American neighborhood of Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan, New York City. It was nominated for 13 Tony Awards and won four, including Best Musical.

2023 OCTG Theatre Awards Winners Revealed


Live theater was celebrated again on Monday night during the second OC Theatre Guild Awards ceremony at the Samueli Theater at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, which was again nearly filled to the rafters with artists from all over the county.

On Saturday, January 21, 2023 during OC Theatre Guild’s membership meeting, the nominees for the second annual OCTG Theatre Awards were officially announced to the public. The awards ceremony, in which the winners will be revealed, has been scheduled for the evening of Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Samueli Theater at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.

Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company,announces the regional premiere production of the 2009 rock musical “Green Day's American Idiot.”  Directed by James Michael McHale,  choreographed by Miguel Cardenas, and with music direction by Gabrielle Maldonado, “Green Day's American Idiot” runs July 15 to August 14 on the Cripe Stage of the Bette Aitken theater arts Center. Previews are July 15 to 22 and regular performances are July 23 to August 14.
