By my count, Outside People is the third theatre piece about a white American in contemporary China to hit town this season. On the tails of Mike Daisey's The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs and David Henry Hwang's Chinglish, Zayd Dohrn's dark comedy deals with Yankee naiveté regarding cultural differences when it comes to sex and business overseas.
Vineyard Theatre and Naked Angels present the world premiere of OUTSIDE PEOPLE, written by Zayd Dohrn and directed by Evan Cabnet; with Matthew Dellapina, Nelson Lee, Li Jun Li and Sonequa Martin-Green, at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street). The show just opened last night, January 10, and BroadwayWorld brings you full coverage from the festivities below!
The world-premiere of Zayd Dohrn's play OUTSIDE PEOPLE, directed by Evan Cabnet and co-produced by Vineyard Theatre and Naked Angels begins preview performances December 21 prior to an official press opening of January 10 at Vineyard Theatre (108 East. 15th Street).
The Civilians will present Let Me Ascertain You: Occupy Wall Street, Part II. Following the company's first Occupy Wall Street cabaret at Joe's Pub, Civilians' artists continued to conduct interviews with demonstrators about the movement's recent events, including the mass police action that cleared the protests out of Zuccotti Park and what the movement's future holds.
