The Boston Landmarks Orchestra (LO) announces its 2013 summer season at the DCR's historic Hatch Shell on Boston's Esplanade along the Charles River, and additional concerts and educational activities in Boston's neighborhoods. Concerts at the Hatch Shell take place every Wednesday at 7 pm, beginning July 17 and running through August 28. Neighborhood event times vary. All concerts are free.

Comedies about Southern women talking are a dime a dozen. Most audiences cling to Robert Harling's STEEL MAGNOLIAS, imbued with healthy doses of both comedy and drama, as the quintessential Southern women play. However, Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten's DIXIE SWIM CLUB may start giving Robert Harling some competition.

The Country Playhouse will present The Dixie Swim Club by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Julie Wooten, on its Cerwinske main stage for three weekends only, March 8 - 23. Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on March 17 at 2:00 p.m., plus a weeknight show on Thursday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m.

As part of a Halloween double feature, The Country Playhouse presents Frankenstein by Victor Gialanella, for three weekends only, now through October 27, on its Cerwinske main stage. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, with a Sunday matinee on October 21 at 2:00 pm, plus a weeknight show on Thursday, October 25, at 7:30 pm. Halloween time is upon us, and Country Playhouse is offering audiences a spine-chilling dramatic version of Mary Shelley's classic horror tale FRANKENSTEIN. The play, penned by Victor Gialanella, met a tragic end in New York City when it flopped in 1981 after 29 previews and 1 performance. Under the direction of Philip L. Nichols, Jr. the script is brought to fascinating life, engaging the audience and entertaining them with one of the closest adaptations of the novel that I have ever seen.
