City Lights Theatre's production of Coded had to close before it opened. Kirsten Brandt's innovative new play about women game designers managed a couple of small preview performances before the coronavirus crisis darkened the theater. Classic plays provide us a snapshot of the time period in which they were written. They can show us how far we may or may not have progressed as a society. Henrik Ibsen's 'A Doll's House' is one such classic. Now in production at Raven Theatre, this new take offers up a sharp, refreshing look. Closing their 2017/18 Season, African-American Shakespeare Company presents William Shakespeare's RICHARD III for the first time in its 24 year history. A play that explores the Machiavellian rise to power of one of Shakespeare's most fascinating and complex anti-heroes. Kirsten Brandt directs AASC Artistic Director L. Peter Callender as the unapologetic King you love to hate in a play that seems strikingly contemporary and omniscient given its commentary on and fascination with manipulation, power, family, and the right to rule.

Produced for the first time by African-American Shakespeare Company, the production will star the company's Artistic Director, L. Peter Callender as the King "you love to hate," in a role he has played once before in 2003; Director Kirsten Brandt makes her debut with AASC in the same play that marked her professional directorial debut in 2001; in a flip with tradition two male roles-Hastings and Buckingham-will be played by women in a play that freights one of Shakespeare's most memorable and oft-quoted opening lines: Now is the winter of our discontent

Rack have announced the details for WICKED LIT 2017, the company's 9th annual immersive theatre event that will for the 8th year take place at Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery in Altadena, California.

Thousands of souls have their final resting place in Altadena's Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery but, once a year in the fall, the living invade the domain of the dead. That's when Unbound Productions' WICKED LIT takes over the grounds and creates a site-specific theatrical experience based on classic and original horror stories. It is unlike any other kind of theatre or Halloween event you've ever seen and it is seriously the coolest thing you can do in Southern California. Ask anyone who's done it.
