Julian Schlossberg BIO

Julian Schlossberg is a Tony Award-winning producer who has made a significant impact on the theater industry. Born in New York City, Schlossberg attended Yale University and later earned his law degree from Columbia Law School. However, his passion for theater led him to pursue a career in producing.
Schlossberg's first Broadway production was the 1981 revival of "The Royal Family," which starred Rosemary Harris and Eva Le Gallienne. Since then, he has produced over 60 shows on Broadway, including "The Real Thing," "The Heidi Chronicles," "The Elephant Man," and "The Play What I Wrote." In addition to his work on Broadway, Schlossberg has also produced numerous off-Broadway productions, including "The Fantasticks," the longest-running musical in history.
One of Schlossberg's most significant productions was the 1994 revival of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," which starred Nathan Lane. The production won several Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. Schlossberg also produced the 2001 revival of "42nd Street," which won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.
In addition to his work in theater, Schlossberg has also produced several films, including "The Hurricane," starring Denzel Washington, and "The Nanny Diaries," starring Scarlett Johansson. He has also produced several television shows, including "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
Schlossberg is known for his commitment to producing socially relevant works. He produced the 2004 Broadway production of "Golda's Balcony," which starred Tovah Feldshuh as Golda Meir. The play explored Meir's life as Israel's first female prime minister and her role in the Yom Kippur War. The production was a critical and commercial success and became the longest-running one-woman show in Broadway history.
In 2010, Schlossberg produced the Broadway production of "Lend Me a Tenor," a farce about mistaken identities and romantic entanglements. The production starred Tony Shalhoub and was nominated for several Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play.
Schlossberg's most recent Broadway production was the 2019 revival of "Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune," starring Audra McDonald and Michael Shannon. The play, written by Terrence McNally, tells the story of a one-night stand between two co-workers and their subsequent attempts to connect on a deeper level. The production received mixed reviews but was praised for the performances of McDonald and Shannon.
Throughout his career, Schlossberg has been a tireless advocate for the arts. He has served on the board of several organizations, including the Roundabout Theatre Company and the Manhattan Theatre Club. He has also been a generous supporter of the arts, donating to numerous organizations and institutions.
