The annual Philadelphia Fringe Festival and works of theatre are well known partners. Cannonball, the largest hub of the Philadelphia Fringe has an explosion of theatre throughout the entire month of September.
Cannonball has doubled down on offering something for everyone this year. As the size of the hub has exploded, so has the hub's ability to showcase programming for younger audiences. Philadelphia Fringe Festival goers of all ages will find a treasure trove of back-to-back circus, dance, theatre, puppetry, music, and interactive installations all month long.
O22, as Opera Philadelphia's festival was called this year, wasn’t exactly “something old, something new” but more like big fat sandwich cookie. On one side, there was a kind of “traditional” contemporary opera, Hosokawa’s THE RAVEN , a big filling of Rossini’s OTELLO opera seria in the middle, and finished with the Little-Waldman BLACK LODGE, a rock opera that was half ear-blasting concert performed live, half film.
Excitement is building for the return of Opera Philadelphia’s Festival O after a three-year hiatus. Festival O22 kicks off Wednesday, September 21, with the company premiere of Toshio Hosokawa’s The Raven, a monodrama inspired by Edgar Allan Poe and Noh theater, presented in an immersive audience experience co-produced with Philadelphia’s Obvious Agency.
Arden Theatre Company, which returned to the stage this past January with a triumphant production of A Streetcar Named Desire, is back with the world premiere of R. Eric Thomas’ Backing Track.
Mixed Asian Media (Formerly known as Hapa Mag) will present their first annual Mixed Asian Media Fest (MAMF) September 18th-19th, 2021. In light of COVID-19, MAM Fest will be a virtual celebration of mixed Asian & Pacific Islanders, who express themselves through creative art forms.

What happens when a TED talk about chaos theory goes wildly off the rails?
Tribe of Fools has made a name for itself creating physically daring, smart and heartfelt theatre during the Philadelphia Fringe Festival that tackles the City of Brotherly Love.
