Conversations on a Playwright: Learn and explore the work of Tom Murphy, one of Ireland's most significant playwrights, in this series of acting masterclasses and discussions.

This re-imagining of David Mamet's 1980s hit play turns the dynamic on its head as the genders of the protagonists are reversed. Set in Hollywood where power is everything and morals are a commodity to be bought and sold, this production will examine the hierarchy from an alternative perspective. With two females as the movie executives and a younger male, the plot is given an entirely different context.

Rehearsals have begun for a major new production of Conor McPherson’s acclaimed 1997 play, The Weir. Directed by Abbey Theatre Artistic Director, Caitríona McLaughlin, this production will be staged at the Abbey theatre this winter.

The Resident Acting Company, formed two years ago by members of the Pearl Theater Company, announced today that they will present Women In Greek Theatre, three script in hand performances that will explore the important role that female characters have played in ancient Greek theatre. QUEENS, playing at the La Jolla Playhouse through July 29th is a timely and unflinching look at the often unseen side of the immigrant story.  It focuses on the lives of a handful of women trying to make their way in a secret basement dwelling in the borough of Queens, New York  

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its west coast premiere production of QUEENS, by Martyna Majok, winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play Cost of Living. Directed by Carey Perloff(Playhouse's The Orphan of Zhao), the show runs July 3 - 29 in the Playhouse's Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

On June 25, The Resident Acting Company (www.racnyc.org), a new troupe drawn from the performing ensemble of The Pearl Theatre Company, will present a staged reading of 'The Big Night' (1928) by humorist Dawn Powell, a harsh, biting comedy about a woman whose husband has been fired from an advertising agency.  The play was the author's masterpiece but failed on Broadway in a production of The Group Theatre. The version to be offered is a restoration by Michael Sexton from the author's original notes and drafts.  It retains some of the Group Theatre's 'improvements' but includes the author's original ending.  The reading will be at 7:00 PM at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South, directed by Bradford Cover, Artistic Director of the troupe.

Directed by DTC's Associate Artistic Director Joel Ferrell, Frankenstein begins on Feb. 2 and runs through March 4. A Pay-What-You-Can performance will be Sunday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m.

It may not be Halloween anymore, but there are still monsters in Uptown. Nick Dear's Frankenstein, presented by Dallas Theater Center in association with the Theatre Division of the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, revisits the classic story with a gritty, humanistic twist. Helmed by director Joel Ferrell, Frankenstein lurks at the Kalita Humphreys Theater with a menacing, if not slightly gapped retelling.
