To celebrate the holidays, the Music Institute of Chicago presents jazz vocalist and Artist-in-Residence Tammy McCann performing “A Jazz Christmas” Saturday, December 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue in downtown Evanston.

Co-produced by Grammy winning bassist/bandleader John Clayton, who worked with McCann when she performed at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles in 2021, and longtime collaborator guitarist Fareed Haque, McCann’s Do I Move You? was created at the end of the COVID-19 quarantine period.

The LA Phil's Deck the Hall concerts feature performances by an eclectic array of artists who bring the joy of the holiday season to concert-goers during this special time of year. Featured holiday concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall are: the rich harmonies of Chanticleer (Dec 17); five-time Grammy®-winning jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves (Dec 20); the family-friendly fun of the annual Holiday Sing-Along (Dec 21); the heartwarming White Christmas Sing-Along (Dec 22); and twelve-time Grammy®-winning gospel singer CeCe Winans (Dec 23). Deck the Hall festivities culminate with two special New Year's Eve performances featuring superstar of screen and stage Kristen Chenoweth (Dec 31), and a New Year's Day celebration with beloved maestro Zubin Mehta and the LA Phil (Jan 1).

Young Artists Symphony Orchestra (YASO), Los Angeles's newest orchestra led by Artistic Director Alexander Treger, a noted conductor, music educator and former Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, launches its inaugural season with a free celebratory concert featuring Mahler's seminal Symphony No. 2 in C minor, "Resurrection," hailed as "one of the musical touchstones of our time" (The New York Times), on Sunday, October 11, 2015, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall, the orchestra's home venue.  Featured guest artists include Amanda Achen, soprano, Nike St. Clair, mezzo-soprano, and the Angeles Chorale, under the direction of Artistic Director John Sutton.  The recently established pre-professional training orchestra champions, mentors and inspires the next generation of outstanding young musicians for careers in classical music.

Due to a developing controversy surrounding GRAFFITO, the remaining screenings at Oracle theatre have been cancelled indefinitely. The Graffito team says, 'Our intention with this film was to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters fighting the good fight, not to shame or embarrass. We support, unconditionally, those that are passionate about changing our world and are dedicated to nonviolent tactics that serve to unite. GRAFFITO, Soft Cage Films NFP's sophomore production, documents a revolutionary street graffiti artist in Chicago. As he wages a war of aesthetics against the capitalists, unexpected romance threatens to ruin the film. Shot primarily in the Logan Square, Avondale and Bucktown areas with local actors, crew and many iconic Chicago locations, GRAFFITO presents contemporary issues surrounding living and working as a radical artist in Chicago. The film was shot over the last 6 months and seeks to showcase a cross section of the vital and vibrant Chicago artistic community.

We Players will present a new project called KING FOOL this fall. This newest site-integrated production will be shared with exclusive audiences in an array of public and private venues across the Bay Area. Inspired by Shakespeare's King Lear, We Players' production will run September 5 - 28, 2014. Tickets will be on sale at www.WePlayers.org on July 1st.

Gustavo Dudamel will lead the combined forces of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela - joined by the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Los Angeles Children's Chorus and community choruses - in a performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 8, known as the 'Symphony of a Thousand,' at the historic Shrine Auditorium for a spectacular performance with over 1000 musicians and singers. A roster of vocal soloists will also take part.

Uscher, with three days of celebratory events: the presidential inauguration on Friday, October 14; the Inaugural Colloquium, a day of hands on exploration, presentation and conversation with some of the foremost leaders in the arts on Saturday, October 15; and Cornish's annual fundraising gala, Sunday, October 16.
