STARMITES Comes to Open Fist Theatre Company


Time: 1989; Place: Earth and Inner Space. Open Fist Theatre Company presents a new production of Starmites, the Tony-nominated sci-fi fantasy musical that's a comic book come to life. With music and lyrics by Barry Keating; book by Stuart Ross and Keating; direction by Scott Peterman; and music direction by Jan Roper, this joyous, space-age, pop rock adventure is set to save the universe one song at a time beginning June 2 at Atwater Village Theatre, where performances continue through July 8.

Cast and Creatives Announced For ROMEO AND JULIET at The Old Globe


As The Old Globe's 2019 Summer Shakespeare Festival continues, the theatre today announced the cast and creative team of the love-filled tragedy Romeo and Juliet. The Globe's Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein returns to direct the greatest love story of all time, after helming a smash-hit production of Othello and a sales-record-breaking production of Hamlet. Performances will run August 11 - September 15 outdoors under the stars in the Globe's Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run August 11-16, with opening night on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.

As the 2019 Summer Shakespeare Festival kicks off, The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team with As You Like It, the Bard's fabulously charming romantic comedy, whose heroine is one of his most remarkable creations. Director Jessica Stone's recent body of work-including Barefoot in the Park, Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, and Arms and the Man-has had Globe audiences rolling in the aisles. Her Shakespearean directing debut will run June 16 - July 21, 2019 outdoors under the stars in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 5 pm. All performances are Pay-What-You-Can. Due to demand, The New Group has announced a three-week extension for Jerry Springer - The Opera, with Matt McGrath appearing as Jerry Springer beginning March 13.  Terrence Mann, currently appearing in the role of Jerry Springer, plays his final performance March 11 due to an existing commitment beyond that date.

Anne Phelan's AUTUMN LEAVES Gets Readings at Lazy Susan Gallery


Dramahound Productions and Fool's Progress Productions present readings of a new one-act play, Autumn Leaves, by Anne Phelan. The play is inspired by photographer Tom Bovo's one-man show, Pasadena Leaves. Readings will be Sunday, November 19th, at 7 & 8 pm at Lazy Susan Gallery. Admission is free.

The Globe's Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein returns to the outdoor festival stage, with a cast featuring some of the nation's finest classical actors, to bring Shakespeare's iconic play to life. Revenge thriller, ghost story, psychological drama, political epic, and family saga, all packed in one, with unforgettable characters, theatrical masterstrokes, and world-famous lines. The Prince of Denmark comes home from college to find his father dead, his mother remarried to his uncle, and a spine-chilling apparition roaming the palace grounds. Hamlet plays August 6 - September 10, 2017, in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Previews run August 6-11, with opening night on Saturday, August 12 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $30 and are on sale now to the general public.

Ken Ludwig's ROBIN HOOD! Extends Again at The Old Globe


The Old Globe today announced that due to popular demand, the exciting Globe-commissioned world premiere comedy Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood! has now extended again, through September 10! This is the second and final extension for the hit show, which previously announced a one-week addition through September 3. The production plays in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Single tickets start at $45 and are on sale now.

The Old Globe today announced the complete company and creative team for the Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio, named for a Globe board member whose generosity supports a four-week program for rising 9th - 12th grade students and recent high school graduates to develop foundational skills for reading, interpreting, and performing Shakespeare's plays, and to cultivate their own artistic voice through storytelling and creating original material.
