The Kitchen Announces Spring 2018 Season

The Kitchen, founded in 1971, has continued to serve as an important catalyst for a broad community of groundbreaking artists working across disciplines. In today's landscape, where contemporary artists and arts institutions are collaborating in new ways and generating new contexts for the continuing evolution of multi-disciplinary art, The Kitchen, as a nimble, smaller-scale organization, plays an especially vital role. It provides emerging and established artists a hot-house environment for the presentation and discussion of their work, supporting and seeking to foster a vibrant, living dialogue among artists from every field and area of culture. Engaging both The Kitchen veterans and newcomers who challenge the given formations of art and politics, lifestyle and social structures, the Spring 2018 (March 28-July 27) season probes everything from the police state to the racial imaginary to self-construction and identity, utilizing the flexibility of the institution's spaces for art that itself eludes definition.

Jimmy Wilson Pens EDWARD THE MAGNIFICENT

'Edward the Magnificent': a fantastical story following an eccentric boy on an exciting journey. 'Edward the Magnificent' is the creation of published author, Jimmy Wilson, who is the lead pastor of Frontline Outreach Church located in beautiful Hartwell, Georgia. The Lord spoke to him about planting a church several years ago. He felt like Moses did when God told him to go to his chosen people and set them free. Moses gave God a lot of excuses, just as Jimmy has. He says, 'No one will listen. I can't speak well all the same as Moses'. Moses let God do the work. He was obedient to the calling. Just as Moses did, Jimmy is the same. Excuse after excuse. Moses didn't do everything perfectly neither has Pastor Jimmy. God spoke many blessings into the life of Pastor Jimmy. He just wanted to live for God and bless his people. As God was moving more and more in his life, Pastor Jimmy felt led to start writing. Most people think because he is a pastor, the book he should write is about some great revelation from God or some great doctrinal truth. God had something different for him. He was led to write about a humorous little boy, Edward the Magnificent, as he liked to call himself. Adventurous, young inventor, and imagination builder. Shy, backward, and weird, but a heart to stretch his imagination as far as the eye can see. Jimmy is also the husband of a beautiful wife of thirty years. Tabitha is always there to help him along in life. They have three grown children, Priscilla, Holly, and JJ. Jimmy and Tabitha have four wonderful grandchildren they truly adore from the bottom of their heart. There is one more grandchild on the way at the time of this writing; another boy.
