Ken Burns's LEONARDO DA VINCI Documentary is Coming to PBS


The film, which explores the life and work of the 15th century artist Leonardo da Vinci, is Burns's first non-American subject. It also marks a significant change in the team's filmmaking style, which includes using split screens with images, video and sound from different periods to further contextualize Leonardo's art and scientific explorations.

The evening's program concluded with a four-song set from Tony Award-winning actress Cynthia Erivo, who most recently starred in The Color Purple on Broadway. Ms. Erivo's first song, 'If You Knew Susie,' was dedicated to the memory of Susan Newhouse. Ms. Erivo capped her performance with 'Let It Be' by the Beatles, dedicated to Si and Victoria Newhouse. BWW Review: SMALL AXE at The Theatre Centre


Five years in development, 'Small Axe' is a compelling, timely, provocative and inspiring new piece of Verbatim Theatre now playing at the Theatre Centre. It is presented by The Theatre Centre and Project: Humanity (PH). Founded in 2008, PH calls itself 'a non-profit organization raising awareness of social issues through the arts.' It reunites actor/writer Andrew Kushnir and director Alan Dilworth, who previously collaborated in 2010 on PH's 'The Middle Place,' a successful play about Toronto's homeless youth. Premiered at SummerWorks, it was restaged as a coproduction of Theatre Passe Muraille, Canadian Stage and PH.
