Jack Kleinsinger's Highlights In Jazz to Stage THE RETURN OF THE JAM SESSION
You won't want to miss the Jack Skleinsinger's dynamic final Highlights in Jazz concert for 2022, when today's top jazz players take to the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center stage to celebrate the Return of the Jam Session. The 49th season final is is set for May 12. It features Peter and Will Anderson on saxophones, flutes and clarinets; trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Ted Rosenthal, drummer Victor Lewis, trumpeter Brian Lynch and guitarist James Chirillo, playing together for the very first time.
City Parks Foundation Presents the 26th Annual Charlie Parker Jazz Festival
City Parks Foundation's SummerStage is proud to announce the 26th Anniversary celebration of the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival. The free festival is New York City's annual salute to the legendary late saxophonist, featuring storied veteran players as well as young jazz musicians who continue to shape and drive the art form. This year's festival runs August 22 through August 26 at parks and venues around Manhattan and will include free concerts, panel discussions, and workshops - focused in Harlem where Parker worked and in the East Village where Parker lived.
'The Music of Jackie McLean' Out on Primary Records Today
For the last year and a half, San Francisco Bay Area woodwind expert Steven Lugerner has been digging into the music of jazz legend Jackie McLean with Jacknife, Lugerner's hard-hitting West Coast post-bop quintet. The group has completed work on an album, 'The Music of Jackie McLean,' slated for release today, April 22 by Primary Records, and will be touring the West Coast next month with special guest Larry Willis, the virtuoso pianist and former McLean sideman.

Tenor Saxophonist Jovan Alexandre to Perform 3/18 at Carroll Place
Tenor saxophonist Jovan Alexandre's debut album, Collective Consciousness, is available now on Xippi Phonorecords. Following his triumphant New York City debut as a bandleader at this year's Winter Jazzfest, Alexandre now plays a weekly Wednesday night residency with his band at The Music Room at Carroll Place (157 Bleecker Street).
