Adventure Stage Chicago to Present REPRISE This September

An old man returns a violin to Northwestern Settlement. Ms. Harriet Vittum lent it to him 80 years earlier with the promise that he bring it back when he was done. With original music and lyrics inspired by Chicago's cultural traditions, Reprise follows an immigrant story as we discover what he did with the instrument all those years, how he knew he was finished, and what it meant to keep his promise.

The Forks & Hope Ensemble has opened A Hero's Journey at Jackalope's Frontier in Edgewater.

Forks & Hope Ensemble Presents A HERO'S JOURNEY

After four years as a resident company in Strawdog Theatre's Hugen Hall, The Forks & Hope Ensemble is producing their first fully devised work at Jackalope's Frontier this August. A Hero's Journey uses Joseph Campbell's 'hero's journey' theory to explore humanity's impulse to tell and re-tell stories of mythological heroes. Using the ensemble's trademark playful, movement-based aesthetic, each performer goes on their own heroic journey, which reveals parallels to their own lives. Audience members can expect to meet epic characters like Odysseus, King Sejong, and Psyche on a human scale in an intimate, imaginative setting.
