MadLab Theatre presents a play about the effects of mental illness entitled FINE (NOT FINE). This will be a presentation made up of letters from you, the general public, about your experiences with mental illness. The purpose of this play is help normalize these issues as well as provide a catharsis for those that may be suffering.

Winner! 1979 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Sam Shepard's Buried Child is a powerful and brilliant play probes deep into the disintegration of the American Dream. The setting is a squalid farm home occupied by a family that is unhinged by a dark secret and filled with suppressed violence and an unease born of deep-seated unhappiness. Cowboy Mouth is a rarely produced, semi-autobiographical play, written with Patti Smith over the course of several sleepless days and nights, tells the story of Slim and Cavale, two rock n' rollers holed up in a disheveled apartment await a special delivery in the form of their iconic, visionary savior 'the Lobster Man'. Aphra Behn's 1687 comedy is a zany blend of commedia dell'arte, music, and science fiction. Servants and lovers run wild in this play which was hugely successful in the English Restoration Period. Behn's work has been described as "an affordable mini-spectacle," and she is considered one of the great women playwrights in all of classic theatre. Performances are July 20 thru August 6, 2017. MadLab will present The Young Writers Short Play Festival, a collection of ten short plays written by eleven Columbus area high school students. MadLab is a non-profit organization that provides an artistic haven for the creation and experience of original works. Part of that effort involves giving young people the opportunity to create original works. This festival was born from that goal. MadLab sought out submissions from area high schools and chose the best plays to produce. Student playwrights will work with experienced local playwrights to help them with their plays.
